The restaurant is essentially underground distributed in three small rooms with very pleasant vaults. The service is excellent. The food is not what I would prefer in Malta although there is nothing really negative about what is served. We had Asparagus and rosemary risotto to start and then the slow cooked Lamb shank and some slices of lamb leg which was practically raw and had to be replaced nicely by the manager. Primus local wine. Nevertheless the place was very noisy, with a lot of big tables cramped in the small rooms. This could have been otherwise very romantic, unfortunately this was not the good evening for that. Very nice service indeed.

We were given a choice of tables and once seated were offered food recommendations from the waiter. The service was very pleasant and friendly.

The food was unfortunately warm rather than hot when it arrived and this spoilt what would have otherwise been an excellent meal.

As others have reported, from the street this does look like somewhere that has closed down, indeed as you push open the door the feeling is reinforced but persevere. I don't think even the most ardent fan would describe this as a smart venue, but who cares, it is quirky and they know what to do with fresh food, and the staff are good too.
So, we arrive on a Saturday night and were taken through the first dining room which seemed to be populated by local couples who have the air of regulars and down some steps to a brightly lit second room and our table (slight whiff of drains for a moment but this seemed to clear), where everyone was a tourist.
The restaurant is staffed by young men who dash backwards and forwards cheerfully reading the wall mounted chalk board menu to those unable to read it for themselves. A selection of bread and dips were delicious to nibble on whilst we waited for our food.
We particularly liked the simplicity of the dishes, my fresh asparagus was first rate both fresh and beautifully cooked, the speciality Jerusalem artichoke dish was perfect as was the fish.
This is the sort of place we look forward to revisiting.

This restaurant has been here for decades, and specializes in traditional dishes. They know what they are doing and can deliver well. It is on several levels, each appears to have different decor. We were in the basement -- sort of a crypt feeling. We felt it very good overall, but my rabbit (and rabbit is a specialty of Malta) was overdone. The ricotta cake dessert was delicious. The service was good, but somewhat stressed. Also, there is no menu, just the specials on the chalk board on the wall. Our waiter announced in a loud voice what these were, and did this throughout our meal for every other table of diners that sat down. It might be better to write them on a small chalkboard and take it to each table.
