Marylene was great! She couldn't meet us but arranged to have her sister meet us in her place. The house was clean and well kept. There was an unopened box of cereal, milk, a full loaf of very nice bread, plenty of bottled water, a bottle of Maltese wine, tea, coffee, soda, butter and jelly. The appliances were all new and working perfectly. The apartment itself was fantastic! Stylishly designed and executed while respecting it's historic roots. The location was wonderful, with everything we could possibly need being close by. It's also very near (maybe a 2 minute walk) to the sea and the promenade along the coast, which is incredible and totally accessible). Marylene provided a very useful guide to the neighborhood too. I would back up her recommendations too, by the way. One other thing: it's only a short (10-15 minutes maybe) walk to get from the apartment to the Sliema ferries, which makes Valletta essentially very close by. It's an easy walk and ferry ride to get to Valletta, and yet the part of Sliema that the apartment is in is peaceful and quiet, so you really have it all here. I will definitely be staying here again!
The Apartment is huge and had all that we needed and more. Everything is brand new and tastefully furnished and decorated. Everything works and it's a pleasure to stay there with things so new and clean. There were extra towels and sheets too, also new.
The hosts couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming. They had given us detailed advice in advance and then made sure we understood everything when we arrived. A bottle of wine was awaiting us in the fridge and the cupboards had coffee, tea, etc. There was no need to rush out to a store to buy anything.
The location is excellent for exploring this side of Malta, which is where the resorts and seaside activities seem to be located. The seaside walk on the promenade is lovely in the mornings and evenings. There are restaurants, tour agents, shops and nearly anything you would need within a 5 minutes' walk. We purchased a one-week bus pass for 21 euro and from there, easily found our way to other parts of the island and Gozo. The hosts had provided a wonderful set of guidelines and recommendations on the main sites and what to see, do, where to eat, etc. This saved us loads of time and really helped us to 'dive into' Malta.
We were there in the 'off-season', so traffic and crowds were light. We loved Malta and were so happy to have found this lovely apartment!
