Arrived on 21st April, was welcomed and taken to our rooms by a concierge determined on selling day trips. Room at first looked very nice, lovely balcony with beautiful view. We were on 8th floor in room 843, they class it as a deluxe room.
After spending a bit of time in the room, a few things came to our attention 1 the balcony door was broken and wouldn't lock, 2 the toilet lock was also broken, the bath leaked and when you slid the sliding door closed you could see where the paint had bubbled and was peeling off so this has been an ongoing problem. 3 it was extremely noisy not only with the church bells that have no rhyme nor reason nor pattern to their going off a humdinger, there was a private party on the Saturday night, a fashion show on the Sunday night then maintenance works going on the rest of our week, so not a relaxing, calming week!
If you wanted a minibar you had to request it and also a bath robe wasn't supplied in the room, maybe this would save our embarrassed looks at a particular large man who after swimming insisted on getting into lift with just a towel wrapped around him.
The spa is extremely expensive so we used sawadee spa at bottom of gorg Borg street, more time and half the price! no drinking water supplied in the room only a litre bottle for €2.90!
On a positive note the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfasts excellent with a great choice and they supplied a chocolate cake for my sisters birthday.
I have stayed in previous. 5* accommodation, this one doesn't come close!

Room Tip: Not a good idea to be on 8th floor underneath restaurant. Try mint cafe at bottom of Stella Maris st...

The Palace is certainly a well priced hotel, and the location is perfect - pretty much everything is a short walk away, although if you don't like hills, you might want to take it easy!! We had a double room with an AMAZING king size bed. Honestly, this was the best bed I have ever slept in, so comfortable with a choice of pillows and lovely linens. We could just about see the sea and Valletta from our balcony which was a lovely surprise. The toiletries and towels weren't quite up to 5* standards which was a shame, although the bathroom was nicely done - it would have been better if the luxury in the bedroom had extended to the bathroom.

The staff dealt with an issue we had very quickly which was very reassuring, and someone came to check that everything was ok with the room shortly after we had checked in - a great touch. The reception staff could perhaps use a little more training, as we didn't really receive 5* treatment from them - answering the phone whilst checking us in didn't really seem professional. We felt a little ignored and rushed.

The main problem we had with The Palace was the noise. The hotel can't help where it is, and unfortunately, it's right next to a church and a busy road. The church bells rang all the time, and randomly too - there didn't seem to be a pattern to them! And because we were on the third floor, we could hear the road loud and clear, which included the coaches which parked directly under our balcony to collect and drop off holiday makers. They left their engines running for 25 minutes at a time, and hearing this at 8am or 10.30pm wasn't particularly welcome - perhaps they could be a little bit more considerate and switch their engines off?

One last thing, the Wifi was so ridiculously expensive it was almost obscene, especially considering Malta is scattered with free Wifi points. It's even free in the lobby - why not extend this to the rooms?

Room Tip: Try to request a room away from the bells, and don't pay for in room Wifi - get it from the lobb...

A world class hotel on a secluded street in Sliema, I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. From the beautiful, genuine smiles of the receptionists to the glorious rooftop pool - with stunning views over the Med, Valletta and the rest of Malta - my stays at this hotel have both been exceptional experiences. The beds are almost too comfortable. The staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect too - on top of a small hill in Sliema, with lovely quiet side streets all around, you can easily walk to the the ferry ports in Sliema or the promenade known as Triq it Torri in a few minutes. Sliema can be noisy and bustling on the seafront, so I would definitely recommend staying here, a little back from the seafront and wonderfully quiet in the evenings. I will definitely be hoping to return again soon.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony near the church if you like the subdued chiming of the bells on the half h...

Stayed here on business this April. Its not my normal place so I'm perhaps making an unfair comparison with the Hilton, which is actually 50 Euro more expensive a night. Reservations were friendly enough but there was confusion over whether I should pay or whether my company should - we do have an existing account with them. I was also not offered a porter and did not have any of the restaurants or facilities pointed out to me on arrival.
I considered the room superior and quite large. Bathrooms are quite unusual shapes, being placed behind a wall of granite with a sliding door closure. I was on the 4th floor and had a good view of Stella Maris church and the harbour at Taxbiex in the distance, though some may find the proximity to the striking clock on this side and the bell tower, keep them awake. Room coffee and breakfast coffee was awful and there was often a wait for someone to deliver it. Additionally noticed was that lone male travellers received serving in advance of lone female travellers.Whilst there was a good selection at the buffet style breakfast, an improvement would be someone to cook fried eggs and omelettes freshly, as I never like the look of eggs left in buffet heaters. To be commended is the food served on the 9th floor at Temptasian, very good value and well prepared. Food prepared in the bar in the evenings is also preferable to the evening buffet and cheaper. If breakfast is your favourite meal, I would not recommend you staying here.
