Myself and my husband have just returned from 5 days in Malta, our first ever visit. Having carefully reviewed where best to stay, I settled on booking at the Palazzo Capua in Sliema. What a good choice this turned out to be. The hotel was not only in a fantastic location, but the hotel itself we could not fault. Our suite (Selma Suite) was spacious and clean, with everything you could need. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and could not do enough for you. A minor issue we had was resolved quickly and efficiently. Annexed to the Victoria Hotel meant we had use of all their facilities. The self-service buffet breakfast was plentiful and good quality. I am gluten-free, and although this meant less of a choice, there was still plenty to choose from. The weather was not brilliant during our stay so we made use of the Penny Black (the hotel's pub) for a few evening meals, which were both reasonably priced and tasty. We checked the prices of the food at the other neighbouring hotel (The Palace) and they seemed dearer here for the same thing than at the Penny Black. The hotel was a 5-10 minute walk to the seafront of Sliema where you could pick up the hop-on/off bus, get the water taxi over to Valletta, any number of local buses, or book a cruise/tour. Good shopping area and plenty of restaurants/cafes/bars. A 5-10 minute in the other direction took you to the other side of Sliema where you could also walk round to St Julian's Bay. If there was one slight downside to our stay (and by no means a deal breaker) it would be that the terrace to the suite seemed to back on to the staff smoking/meeting area of the neighbouring hospital. Staff would congregate there (most noticeably around 7.30 - 8.00 am, presumably at shift change, and it could get quite noisy with chatter. This is obviously no fault of the hotel but felt we just wanted to make people aware. Apart from that we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
