Stayed in this beautiful house in May. Staying in Mdina itself is surreal and the authenticity of this townhouse just makes it all the better. The owner is also super helpful!
I had the pleasure of staying in Joanna's property with a friend in late April/ early May 2018. This was one of those accommodation experiences that you know you'll never forget, a rare opportunity to live within the enchanting walled city of Medina. The property itself is charming and architecturally unique- sleeping beneath ancient stone vaults just behind the Palazzo Santa Sofia (the oldest building in Medina) was just extraordinary in itself. The property is immaculately clean and perfectly equipped with all appliances, but has retained a unique charm and character that comes from Joanna's eye for lovely interior touches. We felt so welcome and relaxed here, welcomed with tea and biscuits and lovely Maltese honey- Joanna really did think of everything to welcome us.
The location really couldn't get any better. Few people are fortunate enough to stay within the walls of Medina, fewer still in such a charming, centrally located property (just off the Cathedral square). Our walks home through the streets at night were simply magical, through illuminated medieval streets. There are a host of wonderful restaurants and attractions nearby. In spite of this, the property is secluded just off a side street, and remains calm and peaceful at all hours. For those of you wishing to spend a few days exploring Rabat and Medina, this property is for you.
Finally, I'd like to thank Joanna herself. Joanna is a natural hostess, so warm and friendly, and extraordinarily accommodating in spite of the culmination of unfavourable travel circumstances. After cancelled flights and an errant taxi driver, my friend and I arrived very very late, but in spite of this inconvenience Joanna greeted us with a smile and put us at ease with a true graciousness. She really bent over backwards to ensure that we had a wonderful stay.
I can't wait to book my return visit!
I would highly recommend this place if you are in Malta. One cool facts is that the property is within Mdina's medieval walls - it feels like you are part of history just staying here. Also, Andrea is such a great host and friend. We would have good conversations and I really enjoy his company.
Joanna and Andrea ensured we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in their beautiful letting in the Mdina. As hosts, they were very responsive addressing our many queries about Malta in advance, incredibly hospitable upon arrival and presented a beautifully kept townhouse for our stay. All amenities are provided and the location itself in the Mdina is an unforgettable and rare one for visitors seeking a unique, historic area for their stay. We have wonderful memories of our time and would thoroughly recommend to anyone interested to opt for Annie's Place.
To stay inside the walls of magical and medieval Mdina was a truly incredible experience! I am so happy that we decided on staying in this cosy one bedroom home in Mdina. Although Mdina can be a little noisy in the morning, the streets grind to a quiet and mesmerising halt in the evening. It is truly a unique place. Communication with Andrea was prompt and informative, and Joanna is a truly wonderful host. The actual home - Annie’s - is eclectic, characterful and unique. The living room had a lot of reading material for us to plan our stay - a very nice touch. The home makes you feel as if you are living like a local in Mdina: the exact experience we were looking for. Thank you Andrea and Joanna!
