Not having been to Gozo before we did not know the layout of the Island when we booked this house. It turned out to be a really fantastic house in a great location. We wanted a holiday that would keep our 4 kids (9, 11, 13, 15) from boredom but allow us parents to relax too. This house and Gozo suited our need perfectly. The house is really beautiful – recently restored to a very high standard whilst keeping its traditional features and character intact. Every modern convenience is available at the house. The owners are very nice and friendly and are nearby if needed. They are very attentive to detail and helpful but not intrusive. They provided local knowledge about places to visit, where to shop, arranged car (jeep) hire and transfer to airport.
The lovely pool and plants are very well maintained. The pool is cleaned every three days. We stayed for 2 weeks - the linen was changed each week. There is a washing machine at the house if needed.
The house is in a quiet enclave on the outskirts of Gharb on the road towards San Lawerenz. It has a great view over farmland towards the coast in the distance. The private patio and pool area get full sun all day. A bus stops almost at the door with regular service to Victoria.
Two large air conditioned ensuite bedrooms upstairs and a double bedroom downstairs easily accommodated our family. There is a spacious bathroom downstairs too. Other beds were available in the living area. Overall the house is very spacious with large living room and well equipped kitchen and dining area. We used the BBQ almost every day.
There are many beaches on Gozo and all within less than 15 minutes drive. Some nearby beaches are 5 minutes away. Azure window and black hole are very close by. Ta Pinu church is 5 minutes. Everyday we spent time at the house, in the pool, went to a beach, snorkelled, swam, relaxed, played cards, board games, read our books etc.
There are a couple of grocery stores nearby – in Gharb and in San Lawrenz. 15 minute walk to either but probably better to have a car. Lots of restaurants on Gozo. Kids enjoyed Rangers in Gharb.
Driving was easy. Roads very quiet, well signposted. To really experience the variety of beaches then a car is necessary. Our kids loved the open jeep that was inexpensive to rent.
