Just returned from a 7 night stay with 3 kids, 6 and under, one father in law, brother in law and us. We had a fantastic time! The farm house has everything you need, is clean, kitchen well stocked, plenty of places to sit and relax whether its by the pool or in the courtyard. We didn't feel like we were living on top of each other as there is plenty of room for my FIL and BIL to escape the kids and read in peace.
The pool was maintained by a friendly local twice a week to keep it clean and check the levels. We spent a few days just by the pool and a big plus for us was the children had plenty of room to let off steam but was safe from the pool by locking the gate to it.
There was endless hot water, I was the last to shower after everyone else one evening and it didn't drop in temprature at all.
The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with aircon units (we didn't need these as it was May and the stone keeps them cool). Again plenty of storage to hang clothes and drawers too.
Gharb is nice but a little lacking on places to go and eat or somewhere just to have coffee! Hence the 4 for location. Rangers, (about 10 min walk) was great for kids and food was always excellent. Pizzas, salads, pasta dishes, the tandoori chicken was very good. It looked busy for the football one night as there is a big TV on the wall. There is two other restaurants but we didn't feel they would cater for a 2 year olds tastes so didn't try them. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of local wine in the courtyard at night back at the house, the lights and plants around us made a very relaxing end to the day.
There are a few small super markets to cater - try lighthouse in St Lawerenze as it is bigger. About a 20 min walk.
I would definitly suggest hiring a car, the buses are not like in Malta and last bus comes back to Gharb about 5.30pm, taxi's are a little pricey. We waited an hour for a bus to Victoria and it did not turn up, a kind english lady gave us a lift in and she said not to rely on the buses running on time during the day. We hired a car to give us more freedom to roam the island. Dwerjia is well worth a visit for an ice cream and a visit to the Boat House in Xlendi is a must too!
My only niggle was the little farm across the road, the kids loved the sheep and goats etc but the main bedroom over looks this and one night they were very noisy. There is also a cockerall that would wake us but they didn't disturb the kids or my FIL in the other bedrooms.
The owner is very friendly, I spoke to him a few times and was happy to answer any questions we had and was prompt in replying to emails and arranging with the cleaner for a cot and put up bed when my brother in law decided at the last minute to join us for a few days.
Overall we have returned happy, relaxed and missing being in there already and would certainly go back!
