Lovely short walk from the castle. Would suggest trainers though as it can be slippy.
We had an early lunch and then took a walk to the the Japanesse water garden before we checked in. The autumn colours were superb .

These gardens are a fantastic place to visit complete with its own waterfall truly worth a visit. Just a very short walk from the castle maybe unsuitable for people with walking difficulties as it has uneven path leading to it.

This is a must this little walk, the scenery is amazing, probably not really recommend for people with poor mobility as the steps can be quite steep. I will be back to Stobo soon and will visit the Japanese gardens during my next stay. Don’t think twice about this go and see the beauty of nature for yourself

Staying at Stobo for an night and a spa day we had heard of the water gardens but had to ask the receptionist where they were ... a hidden gem and a secret that people should know about but the signs directing you to them were only visible on the exit to Stobo.
The gardens were beautiful, serene & tranquil and a pleasant way to relax whilst stayin in the castle. If you have the time given them a visit.
