Wonderful, wonderful spot. Even though it seems like a large crowd when you're in the locker room, when you enter the lagoon itself it doesn't feel crowded at all. That may have been because it was a cool day with little wind, so there was a lot of evaporated mist obscuring any view. We slowly moved through the warm water from place to place- the mud bar, the actual bar- discovering different nooks and crannies. There is cool water continuously pouring out to drink under one of the bridges, so if you booked a package that includes a free drink at the bar don't use it on water (try the cider if you're of age).

We ate in the Lava restaurant at about 3PM and it was nearly empty, so you can get a table with this view. Fish dishes were excellent, meat dish we had underwhelmed. You can eat in the restaurant in your robes, but for me, food this good deserves better dress so we ate in our street clothes.

There is a walkway outside that runs along a pool of the same water; take it back to the parking lot. All told we spent a little over 5 hours here, so try to avoid doing it on a tight schedule. It does sell out; for our 3 days in Iceland only one day had tickets that fit our schedule when we booked a month in advance.

We stopped here on our way to Reykjavík from the airport. Great way to decompress after the long flight. Enjoyed the swim up bar and facial masks. Water was warm and was grateful for the indoor entrance since it was so cold outside! Lots of people but doesn’t feel crowded. Beautiful. Construction was going on but we couldn’t notice it.

Enjoyable experience however not really too different to Centr Parcs.

Not sure why people go for the dearer packages as when in the pool you are unlikely to get out so do not need dressing gown or flip flops!

We had been "on the road" for 10 days and then spent a half day at the Blue Lagoon for some much needed renewal and recovery. It was that and much more. The water refreshed our skin and the silica mask gave our faces a new glow. The spa is well organized and the chip bracelets secure your belongings and run your tab at the "swim up" bar making your time totally relaxing.

This was like being in a factory production line, from the moment we walked in the door and joined a 15 minute long queue with a video screening telling us all the dos and donts. The womens showers were supervised strictly by attendents that possibly had army training and were possibly overwhelmed by sheer numbers. There were hundreds of people in the lagoon itself and the scenic value was 0.
I believe most people go to Iceland for the scenery and the horses, if that is your aim then dont waste money at the blue lagoon.
