We started by flying Icelandicair, business class. An older plane, not so comfy but remarkable for the dinner served! When we checked in the rooms were very clean and comfortable but very stark. Reception desk very nice and friendly. Beds very comfy with lovely feather duvets. The breakfast was not included so for 25 euros each we decided to go across the street. We did look at the buffet and it looked very nice.i would highly recommend this hotel for the location.

Flying from the east coast on an evening flight out, my husband and I arrived at the Apotek at 830am. We were greeted by housekeeping as we made our way to the reception desk. Tired and wanting to brush our teeth the friendly lady at the desk accommodated us to check in right then!! My husband asked if there was any way for an upgrade and we were upgraded!! Apotek is close to everything. There is a restaurant attached, Apotek kitchen although we did not eat breakfast there (the buffet looked good) we did have drinks two nights until close, great drinks but expensive if you don’t do happy hour. Apotek has meaning of pharmacy in Iceland so the bartenders are mixologist. Also, we were told the best pastry chief in Reykjavík works there. Bathroom in our room had a heated towel rack and great shower. The front desk even let us borrow an adapter for American plugs. This hotel is close to everything. Excellent choice while staying in Reykjavík for comfort and style.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience at Apotek Hotel - I am delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay here! Although we can never guarantee early check in we always try our best to accommodate guests who arrive early. Of course, the safest way to get early check in is to also book the night before - but I am glad that everything worked out for you and that you were lucky enough with the upgrade.

We hope to welcome you again the next time you are in Iceland.

Best regards,
Una Guðlaug Sveinsdóttir

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Our room faced the back which wasn't the end of the world. It was the weekend of the marathon so there was lots going on in town. The Apotek is in a great location and we could get anywhere. Very convenient for using the bus. We did not pay for breakfast which was probably a good move as there were coffee shops nearby as well as plenty of places serving breakfast. The rooms are well appointed but the lobby is small.

I stayed just one night in a very small single room but it was just perfect. Clean, comfortable, windows that opened properly, great bathroom.
Use of spa in next door Borg hotel is included but that is not great really.
The only reason I give a 4 rather than 5 is that the breakfast is very overpriced, even in Reykavik.
But I had a pretty good price from booking engine so maybe would have been better to try and book direct with breakfast included.
Good place to stay.

We liked the location on the main square, right on the main square. It was easy to walk throughout the city to restaurants, coffees shops, sites, etc. The walking city tour meets right out front in the square, which was worth doing. Hotel was clean, room was comfortable. No lobby worth mentioning, but the bar was good, though expensive. But that's Iceland or at least what I experienced on three day stopover.
