The hotel staff, particularly at the lobby, were extremely nice and helpful. The facilities (I did not try the spa) were very basic. The room I was given was not very clean, the bathroom had no ventilation and the noise was unbearable during the night. I realised I was under the bar and restaurant. I was able to change the following night. Very expensive for very basic service. I would not like to stay there again.

Stayed with my partner for 2 nights as the Reykjavik part of my trip to Iceland.

The location:
Positioned on a side road off the main shopping street, the hotel is very central. As well as this, the hotel is on the harbour opposite the impressive Harpa building to the left and the striking Esja mountain to the right. Waking up to the Atlantic Ocean was a complete novelty and something I won't forget.

The room:
The room was not bad. It was warm with tea making facilities and a dated but clean wet-room. Bed was soft but comfy with decent pillows and duvet. Rooms could do with a bit of updating, there were some cracks in paint above the window which looked like damage from damp. Room is a bit clinical and as my partner said, a little like a changing room. So if you're looking for a Scandinavian, cosy den like room, probably look elsewhere.

The facilities:
The hotel has a cute spa in the basement. It has a steam room, sauna and hot pool. I really enjoyed hanging out down there, it was 20 euros each for as much use as we wanted during the stay. The space was quiet and nicely lit with tea-light candles. Sadly, on our second day the spa got closed for maintainance. However, the staff were very quick to reimburse the cost of the spa so we weren't out of pocket.

Rooms come with hairdryers which are dated but do the job. Toiletries in the hotel are very basic so you'll need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, moistureisers etc.

The food:
Food in the Sky Restaurant is basic but as a hotel guest you should get a 10% discount. This is very handy in an expensive city. Food is tasty but not very Icelandic. Worth a visit if you're there for a few days. The Sky Bar serve cocktails named after mountains and local beers. Staff are friendly.

Breakfast is ok. Homemade flapjacks are nice. The rest is very average and the cooked selection reminded me of the kind of thing you might find in a school canteen.

In short, the hotel was OK. The view was incredible. Will I revisit when I'm next in Reykjavik? Probably not, unless the hotel undergoes a refurbishment.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view.

Good location and services during our stay, the bedroom was clean and we had a beautiful view on the sea. The restaurant is good and spa too. Just something wrong is no parking on the hotel, just 5 places

Staff were helpful, great location in the downtown area. Amazing view from my window. Wellness area was lovely after a day on the tours. Bus stop just actoss the road for all the main trips which made it really easy. Would recommend.

Ideally located near the Harpa. Short walk to the centre of town and the harbour. Staff polite and efficient, house keeping, catering all great. Views from upper rooms amazing. Will use again if come back to Reykjavik.
