If you need that 'modern/luxury/boutique' feel from your hotel/room to consider the place worth your time and money, swipe left now (or ask specifically for one of the few 'better' rooms available if your'e happy to pay more). If you are however looking for a clean space, comfortable bed, hot shower and warm (I initially mistaken the radiator for a window shutter), secure base for your adventures around town, that's your place.

It is located on the edge of the very centre of Reykjavik and you can easily reach all the major attractions/walk the whole town from there. We end up not bothering with buses at all and walking everywhere. Specifically, it is quite close to Perlan and if you are looking for an easy relaxing afternoon with a glass of wine (happy hour!) and a lovely view after you arrive, you can be there in 15 minutes. There is a bar at the reception too, if you fancy a drink there.

I really enjoyed the breakfast; you had it all: cereal/fruit/yoghurt, hot English, continental AND a few local accents: two types of herring and cod liver oil.

The staff at the reception was always very helpful and honest when discussing and recommending trips and different providers. We booked all our trips through them on the reception (you could obviously do your research and choose who to go with as they would not try to 'sell' you whoever they have deals with; if you want to go to Blue Lagoon, do book in advance, as there is no magic/special reservation system hotels are plugged to and you will miss out as I almost did).

The little added bonus was that it seems that due to the location of the hotel (I am guessing), we seemed to always be picked up first and dead on time (and then travel around to scoop all the people standing at other bus stops/waiting outside other hotels).

I would happily go back again.

We stayed in this hotel from October 31 to November 1 and again from November 6th to November 9th.
This hotel is far away from the Keflavik International airport ( about 50 Kms distance). So I am not sure, what is at the outskirts, the airport or the hotel?
There are many varieties of Standard rooms. Though everyone pays the same price for a Standard Rooms but you got to be very lucky to get a good room. Same Standard room could be 100 Sq ft or 150 or 200 sq ft depending on your luck ( Excluding the bathroom area). The bathroom could be 25 sq ft to 100 sq ft depending on your luck.

Breakfast is good enough. However the bar section is right at the reception. This gives the feeling that it is more like a boutique hotel. very compact.

Front office has a mix of staff. Most of them are very sweet and helpful. Very polite and courteous. However their manager is different.

If someone is looking for a budget hotel then this hotel is Ok otherwise there are many other luxury hotels close by as well.

Room Tip: Choose rooms 224, 324 or 424. Dont take room : 225,325 or 425

We had a fourth floor room with a spiral stair up to the bedroom. Fittings in the room were adequate. Never cold, which was good. Loads of tv channel, choice and we had two TVs.

Bathroom and shower ok and a lot of complimentary toiletries.

This quite a basic hotel. No restaurant for dinner, but a room where you can get breakfast. Tiny bar located next to the reception desk.

Staff were excellent, both reception and housekeeping.

Safe was broken as was the double lock on the room door. We reported both, neither were fixed. Could have done with a curtain at the small living room window as open to the back and no net or way to cover.

Bed was the creakiest I have ever stayed in anywhere. It needs replaced. You barely moved and it sounds like it was falling apart.

Breakfast choice was basic, but adequate, with something to suit everyone. WiFi on the fourth floor was iffy and often dropped off or suffered from poor signal strength.

Cooler at reception selling drinks and snacks. Fridge in your room, which was helpful. Complimentary coffee was quite nice.

Less than 10 mins into the town, so location is its biggest strength. A few bars and restaurants close by, or just walk into town where there is loads of choice.

The pictures are very deceiving! The rooms look nothing like the pictures. The money and value is definitely worth it but could use some updating and better amentities. I travel a lot and this was a great location therefore the choice. The staff is pretty helpful but depends on who you are working with. Ample breakfast

The hotel looks quite clean and tidy, somewhat old furnitures and carpets. Too much paperwork at check-in. Quite high temperature in the rooms, too high to sleep in. Average size rooms. The breakfast is at best average. The scrambled eggs are powdered based and unappetising. The boiled eggs are not boiled recently. Only a 5 minute walk to main street and reasonable rates improve the rating.
