This is the first place we stayed in Iceland and I chose it because we wanted to be in the City Center so we could easily get wherever we wanted to go. I'm very glad I chose this place because I discovered that many of the other hotels are further out and require either a long walk or transportation to get to the center of things.
The hotel itself has clean, attractive rooms and the service is friendly and helpful. Another huge plus was they allowed us to check in early because our plane from the U.S. landed at 6:45 AM and we needed a little sleep after the night flight. So we checked in around 8:30 AM, got a few hours of sleep and then went out and seized the day. I think the best way to get early check-in is to request it by email or phone a day or two before you arrive. That's what we did and they told us a room would be available for us immediately.
One thing I hear is this hotel might not be the best place to stay on the weekends because it is surrounded by all-night clubs that Reykjavic is known for. However during the week it's quiet as could be. They also serve a wonderful breakfast in the hotel for a pretty reasonable price, relative to other restaurants in the area. For 10 Euro they served a nice spread of homemade breads, great cheeses, pastries, eggs, meats, skyr (great Icelandic yogurt) and what ever coffee drink you want, such as cappuccino and espresso. We found this big breakfast easily sustained us until dinner.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you are new to Iceland and want a centrally located base to walk to all the highlights in the city, day or night.
