“Charming, well equipped farmhouse in a tranquil rural location”
Reviewed 16 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We selected La Garanne after actively searching for a a gite that would be exceptionally tranquil in a very rural setting. It fully lived up to our high hopes and expectations. The farmhouse is at the end of a (mainly) disused, stone built, large barn. It has been decorated in good taste but retaining a a friendly 'lived in' feel so doesn't come across as over done up purely for letting. (I believe the owners use it fairly regularly for their own family holidays), It was impressively well equipped including kitchen tools and numerous books and maps. The setting is wonderfully rural - gently undulating land with hay meadows and patches of woodland. We visited in June during a spell of freak hot weather. The farmhouse, being stone built, was pleasantly cool. It is a lovely place to have meals either inside, gathering around either the large old farmhouse kitchen table or outside around the large tasteful modern table. The wi-fi worked well and was useful. Overall - charming, well equipped, tasteful and homely.

“Charming, well equipped house in lovely location”
Reviewed 14 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Very comfortable, clean and cosy cottage. Great welcome pack - including champagne! We were there in the winter but the house was warm. So nice not to be 'stung' for cleaning at the end as all included. Reliable wi-fi also appreciated.
Location is great - Payzac is a lovely village with all the amenities you could require whilst retaining its authentic French charm. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.
Thoroughly recommend.

“Perfect slice of French life in this wonderful cottage - highly recommended”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a great week at La Garanne. The cottage is beautiful and feels like you are a million miles away with great rural views. However it is a short walk into the village of Payzac to get your bread, or go for a meal, so you don't need to get in your car for everything. Very clean and well kept accommodation, loads of space for the kids to run around outside, great outside eating space, loads of things to use like badminton, balls etc. The bikes were especially great and we really enjoyed the family rides on them. Loads to do in the local area, beach lake just a 10 min drive, caves at Grotte de Villars well worth a visit, lovely local walks and rides, Perigueux a good day trip and so much more to do than we got round to. Wifi was handy and welcome pack of essentials on arrival was much appreciated. Would recommend to families with children of all ages and adult only groups. Thank you

“Peace and tranquility in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a wonderful stay at La Garanne. It suited all of us: biking in and around the village for 6, 11 and 13 year olds and dad, peace and quiet for mum and 16 year old, and badminton for all! The accommodation is exactly how you might picture a rural French retreat with a great conversion of a large old barn. The views are beautiful, especially of the early morning mist rising from the valley and the only sounds we could hear was birdsong and bees on the lavender. The village is very quiet but has a supermarket and super boulangerie. We visited Lac Rouffiac nearby which is a beautiful inland lake with beach, watersports and great restaurant. As it was our daughters birthday while there we ventured the 80 min drive to the Dordogne river and canoed from Vitrac to Beynac with Canoes Loisirs. This was a beautiful and fun activity with stunning scenery. It was much busier in this part of the Dordogne and although a brilliant activity it was lovely to return to the peaceful cottage. We also visited Brantome a very pretty little town and Grotte de Villars nearby but could easily have just stayed put with a book! The accommodation was clean and well equipped and we had a brilliant welcome pack which was really helpful. Also Rachel was really helpful in the booking process, helping with anything we asked in a really personal way. Thank you for a wonderful escape from reality!
