“Stay elsewhere if you can!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2012

I'm glad I only stayed here for 1 night! The price per individual room isn't beautiful for the overall quality of this accomodation. Filthy bathroom (especially the toilet), no place to hang towel and clothes in shower room, shower head functioned rather awkwardly (sudden running shower w/o having to press/turn on??), wi-fi internet costs extra. Room's like a shoebox. There's less expensive room elsewhere in Helsinki with higher quality, such as free internet, better and cozy room, and clean bathroom. Strongly recommend to stay elsewhere!

Seems cheap, but bad quality and everything costs extra. No free wifi, only free morning sauna, no shared food. Dirty bathrooms and kitchen. Minimal equipment in kitchen. Garbage bags in corridors. Broken light in room. Woken in the middle of the night by people in opposite room. Asked them to be quiet, tried to call reception when they kept making noise, but they take the call. Went down to reception, finally found someone but they only took room number and no action. Breakfast was horrible quality. We've stayed in lots of hostels in the past years, this was easily the worst.

Room Tip: Go to the HelpHostel 100m next to it.

The rooms were great, the service was good, and the sauna amazing! The problem is that I felt the location was a bit far away from almost everything.

Eurohostel in Helsinki was a bit of a disappointment but it's fairly clean and not too far off the beaten path. The building is more like a barracks with individual rooms off a main corridor in this multi-story building. The main level is below grade with the rooms on higher floors. The bathrooms had been recently done but far too small for the many rooms on each floor.

The bathrooms are separate for men and women but evidently couples would sneak into a shower at night - for a shower? The rooms were tiny and the beds were small single beds. I would only recommend for young people or those needing cheap digs for a night or two at the most.

The Nordic countries are expensive, no way around it. Fortunately the Eurohostel fits the cheap requirement in a pricey city. In a way it's a diamond in the rough (though with the price it's probably a cubic zirconium).

I stayed in a double for one night and the place met my expectations. The layout is essentially a bunch of rooms with beds. You have your bathrooms down the hall and a kitchen on each floor. Very spartan but doable.

Overall nothing impressed me that much and there wasn't much I didn't like other than the smokers who were too lazy to go downstairs and rather smoked in the bathroom.

If I were back in Helsinki and on a budget, I'd go back. No budget, probably not.
