This park was first built for the rich in the early 1900's. to promenade and enjoy themselves. Eventually poorer people were also allowed to use the park. It is located in the middle of the district, with expensive shops, some restaurants, cafes and hotels. We came in the Autumn, so saw the leaves changing colour. At one end of the park is a splendid restaurant, cafe and bar. On our last evening we ate a splendid meal here. Opposite this is a bandstand.
Walking down the avenue of trees there are several statues of people, who have contributed something to Helsinki. At the far end there is a modern theatre building, which learns plain from the outside. The park breaks up the monotony of buildings and you are close to nature as you walk along it.
