Suomenlinna is a very nice and beautiful world heritage site. One can reach there by taking Ferry which takes around 20 minutes to reach. The fare is 5 Euros for return journey. The tickets can be bought from vending machines near the port.

The place is beautiful and must visit when you are in Helsinki. The cathedral should not be missed. At the end of path one will find amazing views of sea.

Dear Sheikhoo B,
Thank you for your review and good tips for other visitors!

Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most popular attractions in Finland.

The ferry trip takes 15-20 minutes to Suomenlinna and the trip itself is a great experience. Return ticket costs 5€ and it's valid for 12 hours (valid only on the Suomenlinna ferry).

Suomenlinna Church is one of our main sights and it was built as a Russian Orthodox garrison church in 1854. Appearance of the church was changed at the beginning of the Finnish era, when it was converted into an Evangelical-Lutheran church. You can check church and other services opening hours from our website.

At the end of the recommended blue route you will find the ramparts of Kustaanmiekka. It is a good place to take photographs, because views are spectacular.

Suomenlinna is very beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site regardless of the season, welcome again!

Best regards,
Aatu/ Suomenlinna Tourist Information

lovely to get out of the city and a quick ferry (breaking through the ice) across to the Islands. Nice bit of history and wonderful views!

This was not my first trip to Suomenlinna or Finland, but the ferry ride over the icy sea was intense and an experience I will not forget. Got a great look at the place and had an amazing cinnamon bun with coffee in a cafe.

Dear AnnaHenri, thank you for your review!

We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your trip and found things to experience in the winter!

Besides enjoying the beautiful scenery in the winter, we recommend you to go and visit the Suomenlinna Museum to learn more about the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Actually, Suomenlinna is also a residential area where approximately 800 inhabitants live all year round, so you'll find here a grocery store and a public library as well as restaurants and cafés.

For more information about the current events and opening hours, you can take a look at our website (also in English).

Hopefully we'll see you soon in the summer as well!

Best regards,

Aslak / Suomenlinna Tourist Information

great daytrip to the island. Quite surreal taking the ferry through ice but felt like we had the island to ourselves, some great places to eat and loads to explore. Keen photographers and millitary buffs will love it. At kings gate if you dare there are some hidden unlit caves you can walk through which the kid in me loved
