We were initially attracted to this apartment as neither of us drive and we were hoping to find a place that was quiet but close to local amenities. We took a bus from Lisbon to the nearby town Caldas de Raina and then a taxi from there - very quick and cheap. Whilst well located - only 20 minutes from the beautiful sea-front and moments from a small supermarket and ATM, the apartment is also in a quiet residential area which we found very relaxing. We were not incovenienced by not having a car.
The apartment is a really good size with 3 balconies, two of which receive the sun for most of the day and feature an ocean view. It is clean and light, nice and cool during the day despite the heat outside.
Although we spent most of our time at the lovely beach, the time that we spent at the apartment was very enjoyable. We made full use of the scrabble board, DVD and book collection.
The kitchen is clean and well equipped. We ate out several times (lots of lovely local Portugese eateries are minutes away) but largely cooked our own food using the produce from the nearby shops.
I would recommend.
We first stayed here back in 2009 and vowed to return in 2012 which we did. The location is great, a short walk to the gorgeous beach and an even shorter walk into the picturesque town for the restaurants, bars and local shops. The apartment is nicely secluded in a quiet location and the balcony and roof terrace offer stunning views of the lagoon. It's really thoughtfully kitted out and feels like a real home-from-home. The owners are also a pleasure to deal with, quick to respond and very helpful with great knowledge of the area and the best things to do locally. Highly recommended.
