We had a delightful lunch in Stockholms Gastabud on a warm summer day. The restaurant is located behind the Royal Palace in the North East part of Gamla Stan. The place is pretty small and it gets crowded for both lunch and dinner. We were lucky to get one of the two tables outside and had a pleasant time observing the pedestrians.
The menu offered all traditional Swedish dishes and we managed to sample quite a few of them. Everything arrived promptly and was delicious. We had the toast Skagen (a bit heavy in a the hot weather but worth it), Pickled Herring (a bit sweet but I realized that is how it is served everywhere), Janssen’s Delight (also sweet but this one was a bit too much for my taste), and Dill marinated Salmon( very tender).
Tip: do sample the local beer (lager) on draft. It is very good and a great way to cool off in the summer.
