“Good price, good service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2012

We stayed here for five nights in June 2012 and were impressed by this hotel.

The room was quite large by Scandinavian standards with no street noise. The furnishings were all modern, simple and clean. The large window gave nice views over the surrounding neighbourhood. The bathroom was spacious, with a wet room arrangement. Free tea-making facilities were provided in the room. Free wi-fi as well. Compared to other hotels in Stockholm that we considered, you seem to get a lot for your money here.

The breakfast buffet was included in the rate and offered a good selection of pastries, breads, cereal, fruit, hot food etc.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. The lady at reception helped us print our boarding passes on her computer after we had difficulties using the guest computer in the lobby.

The hotel is located in a modern suburb of Stockholm. It is mainly a residential area, but there are quite a few restaurants and supermarkets nearby. There is a tram stop 2 minutes' walk from the hotel, where you can catch a frequent service (approx every 10 minutes) to Gulmarsplan metro station. Change here for trains (every few minutes) to Gamla Stan and Central Station. The whole journey to T-Centralen takes about 20 minutes and it's very easy to make the connection so don't be put off by the hotel's location - it's much closer to the centre than it looks on the map!

Room Tip: Rooms on high floors have a good view.

Stayed here for 6 nights in May 2012 as it was just about the only affordable option.

Located in a pleasant area in the south of the city, there is a tram stop is 2 minutes away so you can get into the city centre within 30 minutes.

Hotel & room furniture style is very basic and simple, free wi-fi worked well, room was clean and well equipped with tea/coffee, iron, safe & hairdryer.

Breakfast selection was excellent although the breakfast area was very busy on some mornings.

I'll try to make this short, as there are enough reviews about this hotel and there is not much more to tell... It's a typical scandinavian hotel, IKEA style, with no big flaws, but also nothing out of the ordinary.

Location: The hotel is located a bit outside of the main city core, i a newly built (?) living quarter, easily reachable with a the metro and the tram from the city center. It will take about 20 minutes from the central station to the hotel with public transport (cost: 4 eur). There is not much to do around the hotel, no exciting restaurants, not even bars. Only some fishy kina-thai-italian restaurants are found in the near vicinity.

The hotel: It's a typical business hotel. It has a lot of rooms, a small reception, a not so big breakfast room (looks like it was taken entirely out of a ikea brochure) and i think also a sauna and a fitness center. You will probably like the fast elevator, but everything in this hotel is very minimalistic. Even the rooms.

The rooms: The hotel has a lot of rooms, but none of them are very exciting. They are all furnished in IKEA style, with small beds, with really thin mattresses (though they are relatively comfortable for their thinness) and some minimalistic furniture. They have of course a LCD-tv, a safe, a water heater with some tea and nescafe, an ironing board (were is the iron ?), and a chair. A nice twist is the panorama window, which sadly only gave us a look to someones living room in a building nearby, but otherwise makes a very nice feel and very bright room (in the night it is possible to darken the room to a very dark level, so that you are not too much bothered by the long days and short nights).

The bathroom is very minimalistic too, with some wet-floor concept, which fortunately does not make the whole bathroom wet. It really provides nothing by standard, which is not absolutely necessary. You have only some wall-mounted soap for hand washing and some wall mounted shower gel for your showering. Thats it. Ohh...and there is also a hair dryer and towels. Everything else must be ordered at the reception if you need it.

All in all, the rooms were not only very minimalistic looking, but also not providing too much creature comfort. Only the panoramic windows with the possibility to lounge directly under the window were very cool and clever.

Sleeping quality:

Well, it was average. The mattress was very thin, not to soft, but not very comfy either and the room temperature was very uneven. They do have some sort of airconditioning in the room, but it is not easily controlable. You can not set a temperature, but only something like 5 levels of power (two cold, one neutral and two for heating ?). So i was sweating a bit in the night.

Service: This was really the unexpected highlight. I usually do not remember the name of a receptionist, but the girl with the headscarf, i think her name was Maria, was so nice, that i catched myself spying on her name. She was professional, yet very warm and nice to us, very chatty and all in made us really feel welcome. Thumps up for that ! But i found everyone on the reception to be very nice and helpful. The one guy at check-out even did his best to communicate in german with me, when he learned about my origin. This gives the service a very nice touch, not too often found in a business hotel. On the other side, i must add that the girls at the breakfast were somewhat different, like a Scandinavian winter.

Breakfast: I didn't expect anything from the breakfast, being a bigger business hotel and also a Scandinavian hotel. Boy, i was wrong. The breakfast was nothing i would write home about, but much better that i ever anticipated it to be. It had a little bit of everything, some very good white bread, jam, eggs, bacon, youghurt, well, everything you would basicly need for breakfast. Only the coffee was really bad. And i mean really bad....

Verdict: It's not fancy, but on the other hand it doesn't try to be. It's a business hotel on the outskirts of Stockholm, with IKEA style furnishing and very minimalistic amenites and clean rooms, very nice and personal service and a good breakfast. I wouldn't rate it as 4 stars, but more like 3 or 3+ stars, but it's not bad, considering that it is not THAT expensive for Stockholm. If you do look for reasonable priced hotel (remember, this only relates to Stockholm pricing levels), you will make a good choice with the Park Inn. If you like something in the inner city, maybe look somewhere else...

This is a lovely hotel which is outside of Stockholm but I was surprised how easy it was to get to the hotel for Central Stockholm by train. I do not recommend you to take a taxi without setting a price for the trip. The girls in the hotel are just friendly and very helpful very nice area and lots of good food. I did not have much time to spend looking around but i will go back one day. Also, this was the quietest hotel have ever slept in- I literally did not hear one noise all night. Already dreaming of coming back!

Room Tip: New hotel so do not worry

The room was OK, but we could hear noice from nearby rooms which was disturbing. The water from the shower went all over the bathroom floor. Good/free wifi. The included breakfast was OK.
