“Wonderful les Corbieres”

I came to the Corbieres with my wife for a week's R & R. The house was a typical rustic french home, with all the mod cons. Durban-Corbieres is a quaint village with plenty around within 15 minutes drive. Vineyards a plenty, so lots of cycling and walking routes. The local village has everything you need, the weather is very sunny. Beaches were a picturesque drive away and we even made a day trip to the Costa Brava in Spain.

We had a really brilliant time here. The place was clean and quiet. It catered for everything we needed including a local 3 Michelin starred restaurant.

“A fantastic bolt-hole in a great "undiscovered" location”

2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 7) went to the deep south of France. During our week we might have caught a glimpse of one other English family on the beach and none in the village - this is one place where only the French go. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, austere and great for exploring on foot or by bike. The rental itself has a beautiful view and you really feel part of the life of the village - we were out dancing in the square most nights. The kitchen doesn't have all mod cons and you have to love the flexibility of self-catering, but it is a really authentic village property. We stomped around the vineyards in the morning, beach in the afternoon, watch the sun go down from the balcony during dinner and then party all night! This is the place to really relax into a holiday rhythm.

“Tranquility at its best”

My wife and I visited residence belle vue a couple of years ago and enjoyed our time there so much we decided to return for another couple of weeks of relaxation
On our arrival it soon became clear that a lot of work had been done since our last visit.
The kitchen was more functional with the extra cupboards and the outside patio had a bamboo cover witch made it much more comfortable to sit out in the afternoon and not have the harsh sun beating down on you.
The house had also been painted throughout and the cleanliness was first class.
The added use of the cycles provided for guest use is a bonus as there are many miles of flat quiet roads and also hilly ones for the more ambitious.
A car is essential here as there is not a lot going on in the village but plenty do see and do within 30/40 km including Carcassonne Narbonne lezignan market and of course beaches where you can walk for miles without having to pick your way through bathers.
When we were there the restaurant in the village was closed the bar was open though but there are lots of places to eat in the surrounding towns and villages mid-day 3 course meals averaging 13 to 15 euros.
Best part for us after a day out bbq on the patio with a bottle or two of chilled rose watching the sun set over the Pyrenees
Hopefully we will return.

“Peaceful paradise - we can't wait to go back”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 for a stay in May 2013

I took my partner here after a short stint in Barcelona last May.

After the hustle and bustle of Barcelona this was the perfect retreat.

With stunning views from the house and terrace (our favourite place) and fantastic wine available within walking distance this was the perfect location for me to take one knee and propose.

Durban Corbieres will forever be our special place thanks to Residence Belle Vue, we cannot wait to go back in 2014.

Thank you to Alex for being so accommodating with my requests and helping me out when I discovered that it was a public holiday upon arrival!

Take a walk up to the castle and explore or visit some of the local wine caves if you have the chance. If eating is your thing you HAVE to visit Les Terrasses de la Barre which is 15mins away by car. The service and food are so good we visited twice during our stay.

See you in 2014!!

“authentic villa life in the Corbières”
Reviewed 12 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We had a nice stay in quiet Durban, which is in the middle of the rugged and beautiful Corbières countryside. The village has a supermarket and press shop, the restaurant was temporarely closed (summer 2013) but there are other good restaurants in neighbouring villages (try the fine dry Corbières rosé!). Good beaches at Leucate-Plage (45 minutes). The house itself makes you feel like a villager, it is right in the historic heart. Having many inside steps it is not very practical but than again this adds to the authenticity of the place. It is spacious and well equiped.
