On the day we went it was windy and the tower was closed until 1pm. There was a queue to get in when we got there and a longer one when we left at 2:30pm. They only allow 50 people up the tower at a time and this is with good reason. There are lots of steps and they get narrow and very steep. You also have to go through the bell loft so try not to be there on the hour when the bells ring. Then you get outside and continue going up. The path just stops when it gets too narrow to continue, there is no viewing platform at the top. You have to come back down the same way. There is however a fantastic view!
