My cousin and I recently stayed at Hotel Maritime May 31-June 3, 2012. The location is 2 blocks from Nyhavn, stop #9 on the hop on hop off bus. The hotel was clean, the breakfast buffet (7:00-10:00 am) was good (hot eggs, soft boiled eggs, sausage, cereal, breads, pastries, canned fruit, fresh fruit, yogurt) and coffee, tea and water are available 24 hours. Typical smal European elevator (one person, 2 suitcases). We had 2 twin beds, had a desk, lights over each bed, nice size bathroom and shower. Our travel agent's hotel broker recommended this hotel, good price ($600 for 3 nights/2 people inc taxes) and good location.

Would I go back, NO. Our first interaction with the staff - there are 4 steps leading up from the street to the front door, I had a walker, my cousin with a cane. I went to the front desk asking for assistance with our luggage and was immediately told "This is a 3 star hotel, we don't have staff for that". This was at 9:30 AM. After lugging our luggage to the front desk, and understandably being told the room isn't ready (of course I didn't expect that), we were told to leave our luggage in the OPEN closet in the breakfast room. Of course there was a large wooden crate in the closet, allowing 1 suitcase on either side, and there were already suitcases there. We had to place our luggage (3 pieces and carry ons) literally in the hallway in front of the closet, making it a small walkway in the hallway in front of the rest room. No security, just 1 person at the front desk. Now they did have my extension cord that I had emailed my request prior to the trip.

Our room was a nice size BUT, don't expect any frills. Do expect the thinnest towels you've ever seen (unless your towels are 20 years old), the smallest bar of soap and shower gel/shampoo (note here that we did have 2 bars of soap and 2 teaspoon fill of showergel/shampoo combination but when we returned to the room the second day after the maids came in, the extra USED bar of soap was gone as well and the 2nd unused showergell/shampoo). We did ask at the front desk for extra and once again (by a different afternoon clerk) that they are a 3 star hotel. Reluctantly he went down the hall to get us some but the next day we received NO shower gell even though there wasn't any left. Of course, no wash cloths, typical in Europe but NO kleenex, no clock, no working TV (we did call and someone came up quickly but just looked at it and said it couldn't be fixed). I overheard another guest that THEIR clock (they had a clock) but it didn't work. We did ask a question for the night clerk and for the THIRD TIME, we were told they are a 3 star hotel.

How many times do they have to tell us. My first contact with the front desk about help with luggage, all she had to say was they didn't offer that service. But the constant reminder they are a 3 star hotel left a really bad taste in my mouth.

They did recommend a wonderful little restaraunt, De lille Apotek, just wonderful, great food, great staff and great ambience.

So a great location but be aware.

You'll pay a lot of money to stay here and for the price you'll get a very tiny room with a nearly impossible shower. The rooms are bright without light blockers so bring a sleep mask if the light bothers you.

The breakfast was adequate. Coffee, tea, and ice water are available throughout the day. The hotel is conveniently located to attractions and quiet. It is a very expensive night's sleep but it's Copenhagen, what isn't expensive.

We stayed in this well located hotel on the recommendation of someone we do not know well. What a shock to find that for its high price, this hotel offers tiny rooms, really thin towels, and to boot a surly staff. Too bad, as indeed, the location is excellent.

Elementary manners at the Front Office at least during the day time, would be a welcome improvement for this Hotel Maritime.

Room Tip: no idea as the manager does not care where you are and does not wish to make adjustments.

Thank you for your review. You were here during a congress when room rates were relatively high. As you may have noticed during your investigations prior to booking, you could have selected a much cheaper room on the fringes of greater Copenhagen. We are quite sad to read your verdict about our rather experienced staff's attitude, and we politely refer to the hundreds of other guests' remarks about our service level. Once again thanks for taking you time to write your honest opinion. Kind regards Svend Hansen.

Although the room was small, the bathroom size was VERY generous and with a wide window ledge to place the toiletries - shelving often missing in hotels. The breakfasts were also generous - all you can eat buffet with the usual cereals and tinned fruit and yoghurt and scrambled eggs and sausages, toast and croissant. Tea and coffee - this was always available for guests as no tea/coffee available in rooms. Wifi in the room was good. Receptionist pleasant.
Location great - few minutes walk from Ny Havn by the canal with many restaurants and lots of atmosphere on warm summer evenings.
Easy access from the airport. Queue for a ticket, could take a while, the machines dont accept notes, only coins, then take the metro to Kongens Nytorv and about 5 mins walk to hotel.

Room Tip: No advice as hotel is in a very quiet are
