“Helpful staff in a well-located hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2012

The hotel has been cleverly converted from a warehouse to give good-sized and well-planned accommodation - although the beds are maybe a bit soft.

The breakfast buffet is very good and the staff friendly and helpful..

The location was also good: handy for many sights.

Ordered a room for two adults and two children; got two connecting rooms. Excellent solution applauded by all family members.

The hotel is a straight forward 3-star hotel - nothing special but nothing to complain about either. Our rooms had queen size beds, this is the only thing we would have liked to be informed about in advance. Also, the breakfast was a bit crowded, but we had no issues whatsoever.

Best part is the location, close to Nyhavn and the better part of "Strøget", the pedestrian shopping street.

To sum up: I will definitely return to this hotel.

This hotel is well placed for a short stay in the city. Situated within 12 minutes

of the airport, close to the Cruise ship port and a short five minute walk to the buzzing

excitement of the Nyhavn or up to the pedestrian Strøget shopping area.

The Executive Suites have superb views over the canal and across to one
of the winding towers of the city. Looking out of the window is a great opportunity to watch the passers by and in fine weather, the local Danes and visitors alike, taking full advantage of the
fine weather, playing outside, cycling or picnicking along the waters edge.

The Custom House restaurants are within a short walking distance as are
a choice of other pleasant looking restaurants.

Reception staff are helpful, efficient and pleasant and give one a
warm friendly welcome on arrival. The appearance on the outside is very good and well maintained.
The Executive rooms are fair sized with a desk at the window and a small sofa and chair
which is more than sufficient considering the little time one spends in the room while on a sightseeing holiday. Windows are thick Nordic double glazed so keep
out any street /canal noise or foul weather. The beds are extremely comfortable with an
added foam mattress over the actual mattress
and the pillows are soft and huggable and exceptionally clean.

The bathrooms are big enough to share with basic toiletries provided and the
towels though white and clean look as if they need replacing some time soon.
The shower partition is not well thought out and therefore being so small, must cause the floor to get a regular flooding.
Lying in bed at night however I spent a lot of time wondering how I could climb
to the top of the curtain rail to re-fix the sagging swag of the curtain that looks as if
it came adrift from the Velcro some long while ago. A pity as it gave a sense of
shabbiness to an otherwise perfectly good, basic hotel room.

The self service breakfast is good for the price but over the weekends and holidays tends
to turn in to an absolute scrum and chaotic Free for All. Sharpen your elbows
to get best results.

Room Tip: Booking an Executive room guarantees a good view over the Canal

We spent three days at the Strand in June 2012. The location is across the street from a canal and is within walking distance to most major attractions. The hotel was very clean and the building itself has some character instead of one of those new, more modern, boring hotels. We stayed in a "small room" which was fine for us and is good for 2 people.
The breakfast was very good and the wait staff at breakfast was very accomodating. I would return to this hotel without a doubt.
