“Wonderfull location, and a few buts..”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

This is by far my favourite hotel in Copenhagen, and I have stayed there quite many times. The location is really great, and I like to run for ½ hour if possible, and you can run along the habourside to the little mermaid etc. Restaurant and breakfast is nice but a bit pricey. Be sure to have a room to the waterfront and not to the street. The last times I have been there I have had a streetroom, and in very early morning the garbage containers are emptied and it makes a lot of noice, and since there is no aircon you sleep with open window......
All in all highly recommended when you are in CPH.

I stayed here first, a long time ago, and its a great location. The rooms are much bigger than 71 Nyhavn - and the view is better (although you have to pay for it). So far, so good. The down sides - its the sort of hotel that bus loads of recently retired tourists were staying at. Basically nothing wrong with that, but nothing special. The breakfast buffet was a little tired, and just not as special as the brochure said. Anyway, for DKK 2000 a night, then I guess I was expecting something better. It was fine, don't get me wrong - but just fine - nothing special apart from the location...
(No pool, no gym, and a relatively boring bar)

Great location. And nice view of the water from bedroom. Reception is cool, built within brick arches, and staff very knowledgable. I upgraded to the better room and it was large and airy, very simple and well spaced. I've never been a fan of single beds put together to form a double (with double mattress on top), but it wasn't bad, and the bedding was crisp and clean. The bathroom was a little disappointing, certainly didn't look the part, a bit tired and issuing issuing fine touches like rainfall shower, quality toiletries, design fittings. I didn't dig the corridor either - whilst I realise that the layout is dictated by the shape of building, the long and very dark corridor was very depressing - some cleaver lighting would make it really stand out and a feature, rather than an unpleasant walk.

Hotel in great location, attractive inside. Good breakfast, quite a lot of choice. Wouldn't say it's a luxury hotel which I think they try to brand themselves as. We stayed in a junior suite which was quite nice but small bathroom and walls very thin!! Could hear someone snoring in the room next door. Friendly reception staff.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
