We paid 1150 Kr for a double room with a private bathroom for one night. We arrived late at night to find a clean room. However at 5.30 in the morning, while sleeping, a member of staff with an unknown person abruptly unlocked the door to our room, waking us up. I'm sure this was accidental as they apologised and immediately closed the door, but being disturbed in this manner is not something you expect to happen while staying at a hotel. Unsurprisingly, the disturbance and breach of privacy unsettled us greatly and we were unable to get back to sleep again afterwards, worrying we may be disturbed a second time whenever we heard people walking past in the corridor.
The next morning we informed staff of what happened. They seemed surprised and told us that the staff member in question had not reported the incident (maybe they had hoped that we had forgotten about the incident being half asleep at the time). Nevertheless, they appeared to take the incident seriously when face-to-face but told us we needed to wait until they had more information about what had happened before they could take any further steps. We were disappointed at their offer of a small refund of 200 Kr, less than 20% of what we paid.
I consider being disturbed in the middle of the night by a member of staff while sleeping to be a very serious and unprofessional error and it ruined our experience staying in the hotel. Hence I'm giving the hotel a 1/5. We were left frustrated that our complaint wasn't taken seriously- as highlighted by the small refund offered. It was a shame because we liked the initial appearance of the hotel/hostel.
