“Floatel, Motel, Holiday Inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

A hotel that's a barge. Really? No wonder it was cheaper than the other hotels that came up on my work's travel account.

Well, it was great. It is situated on the canal/channel, and a nice easy walk from Christianshavn Metro station (on the metro line from the airport - about 15 minutes away). The city centre is about 10/15 minutes walk away. The view across to the City (the libraries) is very nice. The room was plenty big enough and reasonably well equipped with furniture, a TV and Wi-Fi. The bathroom was decent with some nice finishing touches ( I really liked the glass sink!).

The reception area acts as the breakfast buffet area, where fruit juice, danish pastries (of course), breads, fruit and cheese are served. There is a hot drink vending machine in the reception that is free for all guests to use. The hot chocolate I had from the machine was very nice, a lot better than I was expecting.

Hotel CPH is well worth considering given it's price and location. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The first floor might be quieter than the ground floor, as otherwise you hear people going up the st...

The CPH living is no ordinary hotel. Built on a barge moored on the main canal, it offers a unique vantage point for to enjoy Copenhagen's skyline, especially at night. Rooms are stylishly furnished with a comfortable bed and clever space-saving cupboards. The bathroom is spacious and elegant. The hotel's best asset is of course that each room is fitted with a gorgeous floor-to-ceiling window over the canal. Being able to fall asleep while watching the lights of nearby office buildings glimmer in the water or taking a shower while gazing at the sun rise over the city is a unique experience! Privacy can easily be gained by a system of blinds.
The drawback of these wonderful windows, of course, is that they aren't very good at stopping the cold and the noise. Fortunately, the blankets are warm and electric fires are provided to help heat the room during the winter. But the noise is hard to fight off, and the traffic over the nearby bridge can be heard throughout the night...

If the view from the room is not enough, the hotel's roof can be used as a sundeck and the reception/breakfast room is fitted with an enormous three-stories-high window overlooking the famous Royal Library building over the canal. There is free WiFi in all the rooms.

The self-service breakfast, consisting of horrible machine coffee and prepackaged goods, is clearly not the hotel's strongest suit and is better quickly forgotten. The staff is nice and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at the floating hotel for 3 nights for our wedding anniversary in January. We loved it here and will come back. The location is perfect, right on the river within walking distance of everything. It's 10 mins walk to the metro and only a few stops from the airport. You can walk into Christianshavn for dinner or across into the great shopping districts.

The room itself is beautifully designed and has everything you need. There is underfloor heating in the tiled bathroom area and the views are magnificent. Breakfast, though simple, is good. No downs sides as far as we could see.

We stayed for 3 nights in December - room was clean, funkily decorated, very cosy, loved the big window giving views out onto the water. The staff were welcoming and we found the location really great - a 10 - 15 minute walk to most attractions and very convenient for the metro out to the airport. Rates were very reasonable and we liked that the staff were on hand to help but mostly, you're left in peace to relax! Large and comfortable bed. Nice upper deck area which I'm sure is great in summer for sunbathing, but we made use of it in winter, wrapped up warm and made us of the candles and blankets to stay cosy and enjoy the views!
We definitely got a little bit of 'sea legs' but this wasn't a problem for us.

Stayed over new year with my wife and 6 year old daughter. Hotel is excellent, room is small but nicely decorated in boutique style. Fantastic views across river towards tivoli. Breakfast basic but very good excellent danish pastries! Staff on board were brilliant, really friendly and helpful. Perfect location to walk to most sites. Be aware though that most tourist sites close new years eve and new years day, although excellent national museum was open new years day. Tivoli was open until 30th and was excellent in evening all lit up and good fireworks. Fireworks on new years eve were something to behold... basically from 4pm constant firework display from people letting them off in street! Went on to top deck where crew shared drinks and snacks and fireworks at midnight, excellent experience even with a tired 6 year old. Recomend Riz Raz restaurant in town if a vegetarian, reasonable prices in a very expensive city.
