We had a very enjoyable trip to this historical site. There was so much to see and do, including a museum with artefacts. Worth a trip, even if it seems too hot, as this should not be missed! A truly amazing experience.

Lots of free parking right outside the ruins. These ruins consist of a temple dedicated to Apollo, and what foundations and crumbled walls are still left of this once bustling city. The information boards peppered all over the site do a great job of helping in identifying what is being viewed. The apostle Paul had visited this city and one can still see (and even walk) on the Bema in front of which he was taken to be judged by the Roman Proconsul Gallio. Other interesting bits include the Agora that still has the shell of one of the shops present. Also is a paved roman road that was a way into the city.
Excavation and restoration at the site seemed to still be in progress when we visited.
Visit took around a couple of hours including the museum.

Some areas within the site are wheelchair accessible but not the whole area has ramps. The terrain consists mostly of rough ground, pebbles and there are a few steps as well.

I take my visitors here all the time. It is a superb site for lots of ruins and has a very atmospheric feel. Yes much of the site is in ruins after many earthquakes over the centuries but is is big and has much to value. I think better than Acropolis and quiter too. My really favourite part is the bath area. The water still runs through it at some depth, you can hear it. You can imagine the collective bathing and the exchange of gossip at the central pool. Take plenty of water with you though as the is not much shade.
The town itself is small with good value tavernas and many gift shops.
Worth a visit for the food alone. (See other reviews)

The site was inhabited from the Neolithic to Byzantine times founded important colonies like Corfu and Syracuse. The Doric temple of Apollo, the theatre and the central agora dominate the archaeological site. The agora preserves the speakers platform where the Apostle Paul preached to the Corinthians. The MUSEUM is a must visit within the site, houses rich excavation finds from all periods, including finds from the Prehistoric settlements, Roman statues, mosaic floors and plenty more from the Asklepieion.
