It's at the very tip of the island and you can't even see it until you walk quite close to it (approx. 3 km walk). The environment there is quite desolate: the vegetation is scarce, there are no trees in the peninsula and it's very windy. Judging from the stone towers / pyramids left by tourists who visit there, I guess that not many people make it to the lighthouse - there are quite a lot of stone pyramids in the first kilometer but just a few at the very lighthouse. :D

From the parking place on the Prasonici beach you need to take about 20-30 minutes long walk to Lighthouse Prasonisi. In total whole trip (to lighthouse and back) is 5.5 km long with about 130m upclimb. First you need to pass a sand belt connecting the peninsula with lighthouse with mainland, followed by two upclimbs and descents before reaching lighthouse. I recommed to have proper footwear and some drink - especially in summer it can be very hot. The whole peninsula, especially both elevated places offers nice views (also to Prasonici beach) and around lighthouse Prasonisi it is very peaceful and quiet.

A place of fantastic natural beauty, with a like of sand between two beautiful beaches that lead to a small hill and the lighthouse on it. Both beaches are perfect for the surfers, as they said. We got to the hill and enjoyed the most liberating view of vastness, blue all around, clear blue sky, deep blue waters and a wind that sounded like otherwordly music! I loved this place!

The pathway is somewhat rough so be prepared, and not one to do on a hot day I’d say as zero shelter from the sun.

The hike across the beach onto the cape ending at the lighthouse takes you across multiple unearthy landscapes. Take a different track when going back so you get to see other views. Notice the lighthouse is not accessible.

That's what it seems like as you leave your car back on the kite beach and head down to the southern most tip of Rhodes. You'll need good shoes, the way is uneven and rocky, but worth the effort, about an hours walk.

It was a bit late in the afternoon, when we decided to pay a visit to this lighthouse. We parked our car at the Prasonisi beach (kite beach) and it took us approx one hour to reach our target, just on time for a beautiful sunset behinde the lighthouse. We came back to our car in the darkness (not too, too late, anyhow, also thank to a partial lift we got by the pick-up of a local fisherman). The walk to this lighthouse is really a nice and recommended experience.

Best windsurfing spot with nice and simple accommodation like for real windsurfers, however not cheap. Generally great place for everybody who likes Greece islands, good weather and two-sided beach and activities.

Hire a car and get there! What a sight for sore eyes!
Beyond Prasonisi is the most spectacular view...it feels like you're at the end of the world!
It's a bit of a trek from the beach to reach the lighthouse but it's worth it as you feel that you are literally at the end of the world!
Take some good footwear as the tracks are rocky and stony...also quite a few wasps knocking about so a bit annoying!
Don't know if the lighthouse still works as looks a bit run down and in need of some tlc!!
But, if you can make it, you won't be disappointed as Prasonisi is out of this world!!

Ok folks I have put this under the lighthouse but its the same area

Prasonisi is at the other end of Rhodes from Rhodes town and a world apart.

This is where the Mediterranean sea meets the Aegean.

It’s one of those place in the world where people find their thing, no you do not need to be lost or searching some spiritual idle.

There is space here and a lot of it, lots of wind, sea, sky and sand.

It is impressive from that moment you crest the hill and overlook the sea. Billed as a ‘paradise’ for kite-surfers, wind-surfers and the like.

Go and enjoy this magnificent place because the ‘fools’ of government intend to despoil this with a power generation plant.

Please catch the Facebook protest to save Prasonisi
