We stayed here twice. Prebooked before our arrival for a couple of nights and another two nights on our return from travelling around Crete. It was very clean and comfortable and breakfast in the top floor restaurant was good with a changing variety of choice. the only negative I have is that they tried to chage me twice. I had booked through Hotels.com but the hotel said they had not been paid. They took the payment again. On returning home I found my card had been debited correctly at the time of booking and so far a second payment has not appeared. the second time we paid with cash. One plus is that if you have a car there is free parking available in the Lidle car park which is really a good deal for Heraklion . Apart from the payment glitch the hotel was very good.

Room Tip: The higher up the quieter

The Castello City Hotel is a great hotel in the heart of Heraklion, close to the bus station for those that want to explore other areas of Crete. A Taxi station is opposite the hotel.
The hotel is of very good standard, very clean, extremely friendly and helpful multilingual staff, opulent greek, continental & english breakfast ... nice dinner menu. The highlight of the hotel is the roof terrace with bar/restaurant and a great view over the city. A great place to stay during a Heraklion visit if you don't mind the vibe of a busy city including noise in the street during the night.

Room Tip: Great view from balcony ... it is quite noisy due to traffic but ok if you keep windows/balcony doors closed.

Dear Sir / Madam,
thank you for your kind words about the hotel. The personnel is at your disposal all day and all night in order to help you enjoy your vacation. The rooms have a nice view from the mountains of Idi, to the ancient walls of the city, far until the Cretan Sea.
Through our meals we wish to offer our guests a taste of the cretan cuisine but to not miss also the classic choices that everybody is used to taste.
Thank you very much for your stay and your review.
Greetings from Crete

What a fabulous place to stay in Heraklion. Right in the city with easy walking to all the main attractions. Plenty to see in the City and surrounding areas. We arrived on an early flight and as our room was not ready, were given a very very enjoyable complimentary breakfast. Plenty of choice, beautiful setting overlooking the harbour. Our room with a balcony also overlook the harbour. Early morning departure meant an early morning breakfast served in the sitting room near the lobby. The staff are so very friendly and make you feel so very welcome. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Crete and it is so very very reasonably priced. Very close to the airport. We were looking for the Military Museum, which we found had closed, but instead visisted the Crete Museum. We were so fortunate that the Curator had a personal collection of relics and information on the Australian Soldiers on Crete during WW2. That was very special to us as that was the reason for our trip to Crete. A visit to the Museum on the harbour front is very highly recommended.

Stayed here for 7 nights with my family. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with a lovely view over Heraklion town/sea. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The 5th floor bar and restaurant was great to have breakfast in every morning. Plenty of food to choose from and an even better view of the town from the balcony. They made our stay very pleasant and would definitely stay again.

Breakfast, with about 40 choices, is served in the beautiful 5th floor cafe, with an amazing view of the ocean. The rooms are very clean, the bathrooms are modern, the beds are very comfortable. The staff is wonderfully helpful and tries very hard to please the guests. The hotel is located in the city of Heraklion and it was very easy to drive to historic sites from its location. The rooms are cute, the only failing is that the floors are a bit beat up, but I think that is because they were not manufactured well. The room colors are "hip." One problem is that the parking lot is two blocks away, it's a real problem when one arrives because you must find street parking on terribly crowded streets and then go into the hotel to get your pass for the parking lot. I also did not like the fact that the sheets are only changed every other day and that when I arrived, the room had been sprayed with a floral scent, I complained and it was never sprayed again. Every time that you enter the lobby, there are food goodies waiting for you, I think that the staff at this hotel is truly trying to provide a lovely accommodation. And eating breakfast, looking at the sea was awfully nice!

Room Tip: External rooms are very noisy, internal rooms lack a view but you can sleep!
