The best way to see the Soutj West coast of Crete is by this classic ferry - Samaria I fantastic views all the way from Paleochora to Hora Sfakion. The return journey is a long day but well spent.

We sailed with the Samaria I ferry from Agia Roumeli to Soulia, and I would say that the ferry ride itself is not that great. Only wooden benches and no shops onboard, but you won't have time to use nice seats or a shop on the 50 minute ride anyway, as you will be too busy enjoying the view.

A ferry/boat is the only way to some villages, or an easier way to get from Chora Sfakion further west, without driving all the way back to Chania, and down south again. But even if going nowhere, a non-expensive cruise to see the amazing coast line, and stop at some tiny villages.

It is very nice. It would be even better if there are announcements to tell the passengers the names of ports, so they are clear where to get off. Also it would be great to add one or two times a day. Most of the people who walk the Samaria Gorge have to wait for 4-5 hours for the ferry.

The ships are always on time. You will always find somewhere to sit, as the ships are big enough. You can also find something to eat or to drink at normal prices inside.

Good company! Ferries always on time. The ferries are very clean. The prices at the bars are quite fair and with a good choice.

Great way to jump from location to location on the Cretan south coast.Wonderful, helpful, boatmen. Find their ferry schedule online. Be sure of your travel plans as tickets are not refundable.

We take the afternoon (last) cruise from Hora Sfakion to Agia Roumeli.
Check on the timetable - if on the website your cruise is marked as "SEA EXCURSION (passengers only)" it will be probably made by "Neptune" - which is lovely, old wooden boat.

The problem is, that it is quite small, and it can sway sway and cradle on the waves pretty much.

From the other side, it has a unrepeatable atmosphere on board, specially during the last cruise to Agia Roumeli - with beautiful unique views during the sunset on the sea.

The return ticket Hora Sfakion - Agia Roumeli with open return is cheaper than on the website (20,50 € / person instead of regular price 2x 12,70 € = 25,40 €/person) which was a positive surprise.

The Anendyk ticket kiosk in the Hora Sfakion is not a tourist information, and the execution of the scheduled cruise always depends on the weather conditions - you need to understand this before you will buy a ticket.
