We visited this hotel on the 10th May 2012,it is great, the food was excellent ,normally by day 3 we are sick of the food but the choice here was fab!we stayed in a bungalow in the village and loved it,all the staff are really friendly the hotel is very clean and just 10mins from ag nik which i love the atmosphere and the lake area.
We had a safe in the room, water everyday, and mini bar with beer ,coke and wines, the village pool is quiet and relaxing .
We triied the mexican 1 night and i was superb.
Would go back here as we had a really lovely time, thank you Iberostar!

Room Tip: I would choose a bungalow with a view

Got back 21st June after fabulous holiday.
Hotel fab, all staff really friendly and helpful and food delicious.
We stayed half board, always plenty of choice at breakfast and in the evening - even had moussaka on our last night - yeeeaaaaahhhhh.
We didn't use the hotel bars of an evening but walked to The Galley Bar, Kri Kri & one other we can't remember the name of! Paid 3 euros for large beer (Kri Kri & Galley Bar has John Smiths & Guinness in can - 4. euros), rum & coke 4.50 euros. Had a meal at Kri Kri, this was nice.
Used the supermarket over the road from hotel, this was cheap.
Walked into Ag. Nik & this took us about 20 mins at leisurely stroll.
Hairdryer in the room wasn't much use but no problem as I always take my own; we needed the mattress topper on the beds as they were hard. We asked for the minibar to be emptied and kept our own supplies in the fridge.
Blue towels provided for pool use & these can be changed on the beach (animation & beach office).

Room Tip: We paid a bit extra for a sea view and was in the main hotel, room 524. View was lovely.

We have just come back from a week at this wonderful hotel with a group of 17 ages ranging from 14 - 85 who came on holiday with us to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary by renewing our wedding vows. My husband and I had stayed at the Mirabello 5 years ago for our 20th anniversary and when we decided to renew our vows we knew there was only one place we wanted to do this. We were concerned if going back would live up to our expectations but we did not need to worry. Maria and Yannis worked very hard with us to ensure that we had exactly the event that we wanted. Maria's attention to detail was amazing even down to ensuring that the same colour rose buds were entwined on the napkins on the reception tables that were in my bouquet without even discussing this with us. We renewed our vows outside the beautfiul Chapel on top of the hill near the hotel and even there flowers and candles were put in this area they gave us a truly amazing event!! On the day of our renewal our room was decorated with rose petals etc just as if we were getting married for the first time and when we left we were given a beautiful book from them so that we can learn more about the area in which we had renewed our vows. All our guests loved the experience and some are already talking about taking another holiday at this hotel. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. The only issue we had during the week was where the evening entertainment is situated, its very near the hotel and some of our guests who stayed in the hotel found this annoying when it went on very late at night. It did cause us slight problems on the night of our renewals as we did hold our reception in the Al a carte outside restaurant which is situtated right behind this area. We all felt the entertainment should be situated at the Tropicana bar as this is away from the main hotel, but Yannis did get the music turned down for our reception. I would recommend staying in the village part of the complex preferably with a bungalow with a sea view or bay view - amazing views and very quiet. Hotel is very clean and you don't have to fight for a sun bed!! I had recently read a review on here from someone who recommended going to Spinalonga via Plaka on the bus from outside the hotel and 13 of us did that it was a great experience and we stopped at Elounda for a meal, definately easy to do, although the ticket collector on the bus had trouble working out 13 ticket prices, his face was a picture!! All our guests said they had a memorable week and we are definately going to be holidaying at the Mirabello again, I would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful hotel.

Stayed 10th - 21st June 2012.
Lovely hotel with excellent clean facilities, friendly staff, almost perfect location, and great sea views (if you don't mind paying a little extra).
If you are Half Board be warned!!!!!! The restaurant drinks machines are turned off in the evening and you will be paying 2.50 euros for a bottle of water at the table (much more expensive than a bottle elsewhere). The hotel alcoholic drinks are pricey too. They are obviously trying to squeeze extra money here. It is a clumsy tactic and one that annoyed me given the quality of the hotel, even inmates in a prison get free water surely?
If you are Full Board then forget all that as drinks are free.
Like many others I am not sure about the 5 star bit, I did stay in a 5 star in London and it was a lot swankier!
THE ROOM: Ours was 226 with excellent sea views, very clean and relatively spacious with air conditioning, the only downside was the neighbours smoking those French cigarettes that smell like a dustbin on fire, the air-con sucked up their fumes and deposited them in our room. Note to self - try and get a non-smoking floor next time.
The beds are very firm, but we like that and found them very comfortable indeed.
BUSES: Only a short bus ride to Aghios Nikolaos from front of hotel(about 4 mins and 1.60 euro each) and Elounda (about 5 mins and 1.70 euros). The buses are luxury coaches and are easily missed, they are not all the same colour either, headed 'Minoan lines' above the driver (I think). Standard price for a taxi to Aghios is 6 euro but you may haggle it down to 5. Aghios is hussle and bustle and Elounda a little more laid back - both worth a visit.
BEACH/POOL: There is a fair bit of controversy over charges for seats & umbrellas on the hotel beach with some deeply resenting the charges. If you want to avoid all that then go for the pool at the hotel or the village over the road - all free there, or wait until 3 Pm on the beach and then it is free. I understand there is some sort of government rule that stiplulates a charge on the beach. Contrary to some thoughts the hotel and village/villa amenities are open to guests from either side - there is no demarcation.
There is of course a rush in the morning, with people chucking towels and stuff over pool chairs to 'get their spot', this is forbidden by the hotel but it goes on just the same. When we were there it was not an issue as there were always spare spots.
FOOD: Again a fair bit of contoversy over this, but I thought the choice and quality was good. The themed nights are half-hearted with a bit of pizza and pasta on Italian night, I must say the Mexican night was better though with an excellent choice of tacos, guacamole, chilli etc.
ANIMATION TEAM: Yes they have some zeal and spend a fair bit of effort trying to get us poor holiday makers off our arses and playing darts, archery, volley ball etc. Anyone would think we are there to relax! But we took it in good humour and their motives are honourable. One of them told one poor guy to stop pretending to be asleep and get playing French Boule, this caused much mirth and broke the ice.

All in all a pleasurable stay.

Room Tip: Sea views are stunning and worth the extra money.

Well, I said we would be back again and we were for the first 2 weeks in June. This year we stayed in the Hotel with a sea view room compared to last year when we stayed in the village. It's a case of take your pick really because both are excellent.
Once again the food and the entertainment were wonderful, the waitresses were fantastic even getting to know what drinks we wanted with our evening meal. It was such a pleasure to be able to eat outdoors in what was really lovely weather. Clear blue skies with no clouds for a fortnight. The only problem we had this year was with the lifts, it was only on the last full day of our stay that they got both of them working, but after all that good food climbing three flights of stairs was well worth the pain.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have already booked to go again next year, so June 6th can come as soon as it wants and the sea view room, on the 3rd floor hopefully, will be waiting for us. This will be the first time that we have gone to the same Hotel for 3 years running but I'm sure, because of all the friends we have made there, we will continue to come back.
