“Cool little gem of a hotel”
Reviewed 17 June 2012

We were looking for a 3 night stay in Athens in a funky, boutiquey place that had all the mod-cons but with some personality - Fresh fits the bill. Walking distance from Plaka, Acropolis and Syntagma, and right next door to a fresh fish/meat/olive market that exudes atmosphere, the place couldn't be better. Its decor is cool and fresh and the rooftop pool and bar are everyway as cool as other posts state.....I hate to say it, as a hidden gem will be no longer hidden when you read this post, but stay here, its cool. Oh, and its bookable on Avios points which is genius if you clock them up pretty regularly

Room Tip: We were on 8th floor just below the bar, and never heard it all weekend...so I know 8th floor is goo...

Get ready for it: The desk clerks are the best I've ever encountered in the business. Capable, cheerful, they multi-task, serving several clients at once without anyone feeling neglected. They walk you to your cab and check to see if it's the right one. I've never run into this before. As to the hotel, our room and mattress were great! No kidding. Trendy, yes, but not so trendy you feel overwhelmed. Nice swimming pool on the roof, but on a Saturday afternoon CROWDED. So if you want a deck chair, better go early. We got a great rate for this hotel, and the reservation desk was friendly and helpful. The neighborhood isn't quite as bad as it looks. But only a short way away is an ACTUAL meat market. We wanted to see it, but wow, it doesn't smell so good. Enjoy this hotel!

The best part about this hotel is the rooftop view. Amazing. The breakfast is good, the service was generally good (we had one rude person checking us in, but after that, everyone was lovely), and the location was pretty central. It didn't feel like the safest of neighborhoods come nighttime, but I probably wouldn't have wanted to wander anywhere in Athens late at night.

This is a nice little cool n trendy hotel (think of a Ikea store) near the Athens city center. The hotel was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room was very small with no room to walk (think Times Square New York Hotels) but functional – there was table, chair, small loveseat and a mini-fridge (minibar). The free breakfast buffet had a very large selection and the food quality was very high as well. The front desk staff was very helpful; although they did push the tour company with which they had a tie-up (I wish I had done my own research – could have saved a couple of bucks). The neighborhood was fine at day-time however; it can be a bit sketchy at night. Be careful and always go towards the Plaka and Syntagma Square; don’t venture out towards Omonia Square.
Btw, we weren’t too impressed by Athens as a city – I would rather go to the hills (Delphi was nice) or stay on the islands.
