“Great Athens hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2011

We recently stayed for three nights at the Evripides hotel in Athens. I had asked for a balcony with a view of the Acropolis and they very kindly made sure that we had one. The hotel was comfortable with a good breakfast and all at very reasonable prices. The people on the front desk could not have been more helpful - and free wi fi in the lobby. We could not have asked for more.

Basic and correct accommodation, cheap for being the center of a great city but the area is a bit shabby.

This hotel is good value. The rooms are small but sufficient with tiny balconies. The rooftop is lovely but closed during the day which was a shame and you had to buy something if you went up there in the afternoon. The area is what really brings this place down. It's very close to monastariki but the street is full of drug dealers and weirdos, they are pretty much harmless and police presence is high but it can be quite unsettling if you go out at night. I wouldn't recommend staying in this area with children.

Around this area you have great places to eat which are pretty cheap as well and it's a shame that the price of a hotel goes up by about 30 euros when you go a street over.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on our last night in Europe in October 2011, and we had read all the reviews but thought we would risk it here anyway as we only had one night.
We checked in , and the reception staff were lovely and friendly, but after putting our bags in our room and seeing the tiny room, hard bed, half-shower with no fixed shower head, we thought we should go out and explore to get away from it.
We began to walk up the street, but the street looked scary with some shady looking charachters on every street corner, and lots of people who looked homeless and strange. We are not poeple who get scared easily but we decided to go back to the hotel.
We tried another two times to venture out, but never made it past the corner.
The view from our room was of a dilapidated building that looked as if it had been abandoned and had been vandalised.
We also tried to go up to the 'bar' to check out the famous view of the Acropolis, but the woman working there seemed like she was hiding from us behind the desk and was quite rude so we didnt try to stay for a drink.
Overall we really didnt like this hotel, and it wasnt even close to the airport, so I couldnt justify staying here ever again.
The reception staff were really nice, and the breakfast was average.

Psirri is not a good place, cause there is a lot of foreigns and weard people, but is near from all the sights, is cheap. The breakfast is not so good, simple, the manager and the workers are great people and friendly, the view is fantastic, but the room is very simple
