“Great stay at Athens Way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2011

This is a perfect hotel for downtown Athens. You can walk to the Acropolis and many other sites. The rooms are very modern, spotlessly clean & comfy beds. The rooftop bar is a great place to start or end your day, fantastic view! The staff was very friendly & helpful, the price was great. (75 Euros including breakfast).

Room Tip: Rm 402 had a little balcony!

I spent a lovely four nights in the Athens Way hotel.

The hotel is located between the very wealthy district of Kolonaki and the hipster/alternative district of Exarchia (which can get a little rough at night.) It is very much a "real" neighorhood of Athens, where actually Athenians hang out, with plenty of cafes, bookshops and restaurants. I liked that a lot--I didn't want to be in the overpriced and touristy Plaka district where it seems that every store sells t-shirts, cheap icons and silly reproductions of classical statues. The walk to the Acropolis is about 25 minutes, and Panepestimo subway station is about 8 minutes away. The National Archaeological Museum is about a 15 minute walk away.

My room was quite large, impeccably clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small and had a cramped layout, and the shower was strangely designed so that the bathroom floor was a little flooded after a long shower. That said, there was plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. After a long day sightseeing, it was really relaxing. The air condition worked very well and was very quiet, and the soundproofing of the windows was excellent. Athens is a very noisy city, and the minute you closed the door to the balcony, you felt miles away from all the chaos.

I found the breakfast to be pretty good: cereals, pastries (both French and Greek), sausage (sometimes not warm enough), bacon, boiled eggs, coffee, orange juice, cheese. I always ate a big breakfast and it kept me going until the evening--I never needed to stop for lunch. Skip the dinner there--it is basically popped in a microwave, and there are better altenatives on the street.

Finally, a few words on the staff. Athens is notorious for its strikes and bureaucratic inconveniences. The staff at the front desk kept me updated as to how to navigate these troubles and get around town, to Delphi, and to the island of Aegina. They were extremely helpful in setting up taxis, finding out when ferries and buses were running, and how to best get around. Without their help, I don't think I would have been able to accomplish all that I wanted to do.

Overall, an excellent value, and I would definitely stay there again when I'm in Athens

The hotel is clean, quiet, well located, near the center, with a gorgeous panorama from the 5th floor where is the bar and also the room for breakfast, the stuff is nice, parking is reasonable for the hotel customers, so we can say taht Athens way is a perfect way for everyone.

We stayed here for just one night but it was truly a great place! We got there late at night and left at check out in the morning but i didn't feel like i missed out on everything that hotel has to offer.

The rooms are clean and the bathroom was spacious. It was a comfortable temperature and escape from the Athen's heat. The hotel is walking distance from the trendy shops of Ermou. It was also nice to be in a quieter area. The reception staff were very helpful and were happy to book tickets for us. The breakfast in the morning was great and the view was nice was the balcony.

Clean pleasant room with balcony with a view on to a quiet side street. Comfortable bed and bathroom, fridge, plenty of space to store things made this a pleasant place to stay. Air conditioning wasn't oppressively cold and we could open the windows in the morning for fresh air without much car exhaust. The staff was helpful, spoke good English and willing to figure things out with us. It is a bit off the beaten path (about 5 short blocks from the main drag), but not so far a to be an obstacle. The breakfast was mediocre, but it seemed to be about the same as elsewhere as we chose another hotel later for geographic convenience.
