“Great place for family with small kids”

We really enjoyed our stay!!! The apartment had everything that we could possibly need. Everything was neat and clean. We stayed with two adults and two small kids (4 and 8 years). It was perfect for us as the boys could share the fold-out couch bed. If you stay with older kids (teenagers) or are 4 people that prefer to stay in the apartment for a long period of time, I would recommend getting one size up. We spent most of our days out and just ate breakfast and dinner in the apartment. The landlord also has a huge folder of movies and books to read in the apartment. It was great for the kids in the evening right before bed. I felt very safe in the neighborhood. The apartment is close to the bus and the metro. But, we walked to the Acropolis and Museums. (Take the metro in from the airport.) The apartment was located just around the corner from a market to buy food and a great souvlaki place. The landlord is VERY helpful and has maps, guidebooks, and a binder packed with information in the apartment. He lives in the same building and makes himself available at any time to help should you have questions. If you have kids, make sure to stop at the Hellenic Childrens Museum in the plaka. It is poorly advertised but is a GREAT museum!! It is free with lots of guides that play with your kids in every room. My boys spent over 4 hours playing there. A great break for them from "old rocks".

“Found: A great budget Treasure in Athens!”

We needed an apartment in Athens city for 2 weeks. As it was our first trip, we had no knowledge of the area, no idea how to find things and no time to learn even a few social phrases. What a welcomed relief to have the owner send us detailed information prior to our arrival, which helped us locate the apartment and understand what transportation options we had from the airport to get there. As soon as we arrived the owner was ready to tour the apartment with us, providing us with additional information to help us understand the neighborhood, maps to the local shops, and "inside information" on the little things you want to know when you are travelling--where to eat, how to get bus tickets, the fastest way to set up cell phones, etc. We found all of that extremely helpful which allowed us to settle in within one day.
Regarding the apartment....it was just as expected from the internet photos. A clean, budget-but-delightful apartment with a little kitchen area, extra large fridge to bring home the groceries from the huge store across the street, TV with a few movies available (thanks), a very comfortable bed, clean bathroom with no problems. Everything we needed for routine travel was there (fully furnished, even a nice washing machine). There is a little balcony off the living room which overlooks a central garden area which we found extremely useful to dry clothes (in the hot summer) but also just to sit out at the little table and enjoy the cool breeze in the morning or in the evening. I would imagine in cooler weather it would be great to just enjoy that space all day long with a good book.
The owner was more than helpful--dropping by with any urgent information, such as transportation issues in the city, or little details such as the days that shops might be closed for a holiday or other reason, but always very discreet and it was good to know the owner was around in case we needed anything. That is service above and beyond and we appreciated that personal touch.
The apartment is located in a block apartment building (secure/locked entrance) which was nice, and we were not disturbed by anyone for the 2 weeks--felt very safe and secure.
Easy walking distance to the bus (right out front), to the trains, or just to walk in the neighborhood to the great coffee shops, or restaurants. We met the nicest people working in the shops, everyone very supportive and friendly...great coffee shops, places to eat...easy to get to all the major sights on several bus routes that pick up right on the main road, just a few steps away. Kiosks are everywhere...don't have to go far to pick up food, drinks, tickets, cell phone minutes, whatever you need. Taxis are easy to grab.
If you need budget accomodation, want to spend you money on seeing Athens instead of paying for a hotel room, and maybe make your own breakfast or simple meals, and really settle in...then we suggest you consider staying at Athens Furnished Apartment Experience #1...we plan on returning next year and will try to stay here again.

“Just like the pictures!”

I was relieved to find that the website provided accurate pictures of the apartment. Good location, safe, near transportation and markets.

The owner was very nice and accomodating. When I mentioned that the apartment was a little loud being so close to the building front door, Manos moved me to another property that was vacant.

Great bed linen and towels!

“Excellent for self sufficient tourists!”

A lovely apartment, great for a couple. Outstanding location within 10 mins walk from numerous bars and restaurants. Very easy transfer from the airport and to city centre. We were welcomed by Anastastopoulous who was very informative as to the area and places to visit in town. A great apartment for tourists who just want to be left to their own devices. A fully stocked kitchen (stove, fridge, utensils) all very clean, lovely courtyard view from the balcony, great choice of DVDs if you fancy a night in.

We went in the first week of March and the weather was okay, but I'd go a little later in March next time.
