Crowne Plaza Hotel Brussels - Le Palace
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 3 May 2012

My wife, daughter and I just came back from a combination business trip/vacation in Brussels. This nice hotel is reasonably priced, clean, quiet, and in a very convenient location (within walking distance of the North Train Station - closest to Airport and subway/metro is even closer than the train station).

Very helpful and skilled staff, excellent services and very nice rooms. Hotel quite basic but has fabulous lobby and good breakfasts and evening meals. Very conveniently located for shops across and central square a 20 mins walk away through interesting streets. Brussels is a city worth exploring I would lke to go back with more time to do so.

Room Tip: My room was internal facing the walls of the hotel despite asking for a room with a view, so try che...

This was my second visit to Brussels and my second stay at this hotel. When travelling for business I like the predictability of Crowne Plaza and this property doesn't disappoint. Yes, the rooms are dated. But everything is clean and in working order, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are very roomy. The hotel is large and busy and efficient staff seem to have it running like clockwork. The bar has plenty of atmosphere and is perfect for pre-dinner drinks with colleagues and the restaurant was of decent quality. I find the location on the edge of the city centre to be convenient, with shopping across the road and a short walk to Grand Place.

My only criticism is in regards to the breakfast. I thought the hot selection on the buffet was very limited and of poor quality. And the cost of having breakfast served in your room is the most expensive I have ever come across - an English b/fast is Euro 35.50! Clearly they are relying on business travellers - if you are paying yourself, forget breakfast in bed. Either get a rate that includes the breakfast buffet or venture across the road, where a multitude of breakfast options exist (including a supermarket).

I will stay again, for the predictability and location.

We come here since 5 years and are always impressed by the friendlyness of the staff. You should really try one of the suites of the hotel with the television in front of your bathtub, a wonderfull experience.
Thanks to everybody !

I don't know if Im glad or disappointed I only stayed for 1 night. Forget the fact that the reception desk was renovating and messy, the hotel itself was quite blah... The public areas are nice enough but tired. The corridors have a discontinued designed that seemed to be put together in a rush. The room was quite standard, but again, weird. We were in the corner of the hotel and the noise outside didn't stop all day and night. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed. The bedroom had utilities in weird places that threw me off, the lighting design doesn't work. All Crowne Plaza's Ive stayed at try really hard to promote their restaurants, but not here. The location I guess is on the edge of the city centre, so neither convenient or inconvenient. Check in was very procedural and no real warmth, no recognition of Priority Club or mention of facilities. All in all quite average

Dear Inspector to be,
Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. At the time of your stay renovation works were carried out to improve air flow and temperature control at our main lobby. Therefore we had to relocate reception and restaurant in some of our function rooms. Please accept my apologies for this inconvenience.
The hotel is over 100 years old and certainly has an identity and a soul! As it lived through the Art Nouveau period in its early years, the architect took Gustav Klimt, the famous Austrian painter, as an inspiration during the renovations which were carried out recently. This explains the style from rooms and corridors which obviously did not match your personal taste!
Your constructive remarks on check in & recognition of Priority Club member have been discussed with the staff concerned to further improve our service levels.
With best regards,
Eric van Dalsum-General Manager
