We stayed at Welcometomyplace B & B for 4 nights in the middle of October and had a fantastic time. Erick is such a friendly host and welcomes you to his apartment and makes you feel as if its your own. He is very informative and is keen to help you enjoy your experience of Brussels explaining the best sites to see and recommending some worthwhile places to eat. After all there is nothing like a little local knowledge. And for those like myself whose French is next to no existent Erick's command of English is very good so communication is not a problem.

The apartment is situated in on the 4th floor in a very charming apartment block. Did I say 4th floor? Fear not as it is serviced by an elevator so going up and down is no problem. We stayed in the "Chocolate Room" which is the smaller of the two rooms available. There are no ensuite failities with the bathroom being just across the hall so no inconvenience really. Speaking to Erick at the time and he said he has plans to include en suite facilities in the larger of the two bedrooms. And for those who like cats Erick has two lovely felines called Charlotte and Josephine( there is a doorway in the middle of the hall and the cats are unable to gain access to either bedroom or bathroom). The apartment is well served by three modes of transport - the bus stop is located just outside the apartment and the tram and Metro stop(Botanique) is approximately a three minute walk or less located at the end of the street. Brussels is quite a small city so walking into the centre ( Grand Place) is very fast and simple.

At the time breakfast was not included in the advertised tariff but was available for 2 euros. Unless one specifically had a particular place they wished to have breakfast I would recommend eating at Ericks as you wont find a better value breakfast for your 2 euros anywhere in Brussels.

So if you are considering a stay in Brussels and are thinking you might wish to try the charm of a B & B rather than a hotel I have no hesitation in recommending Welcometomyplace B & B. And whilst in Brussels dont forget to try the Moules, Frites, Waffles, Beer and Chocolate!

This is our first time staying in Europe so we wanted to try staying in different places, including apartments as well as BnBs. We have not stayed in a BnB before so we were worried that staying in a BnB may result in inconveniences (vs. hotels) as we would be sharing a place with the owner and other tenants. But we wanted to try it anyway so we chose Erick's place because it's rated #5 on tripadvisor.... and boy we were so glad that we made this decision!

But to our surprise, our stay was absolutely fantastic!!! The room was great and the entire apartment is so remarkably clean & tidy that we start to suspect that Erick may be a little obsessive-compulsive (think Monk's tidiness) !! And Erick gave us keys to the doors so there's no curfew... woo hoo!!! :)

But the best thing we gained from our stay with Erick is a wonderful friend and amazing hospitality that you will never get from anywhere else. The highlight of our day was the breakfast, where you get to sit down and chat with Erick about Brussels, places to go, things to see, the nice food, chocolate, etc...

Location wise, I must say that this is not "the perfect" place right smack in the middle of Grand Place (explains the 4 stars I gave for location) but heck, Brussels is so incredibly small that we walked to all the tourist sites in 1 day! It's just one straight road (15 mins walk) to the heart of Brussels so unless you're on a wheelchair or if your parents spoilt you to the point where walking 15 minutes is sheer torture, there's no reason why you should pay at least 40-50 Euros more for the other nearer hotels just to stay "a little closer".

If you're feeling lazy, there are 2 very frequent trams that go straight down the road to Grand Place so you can use the you saved on the hotels on the trams and it's still cheaper than the more expensive hotels with "better location"

So drop an email to Erick now to book your room and if you're lucky enough that he has a room available, BOOK IT and thank god that he has a room available for you!!!

Erick's place was perfectly located. We easily walked to everything. In fact we walked the entire city and saw ALL of the sites in less than a day. Brussels is not a city you need more than 2 days to explore. Definitely try the mussels, Erick will direct you to his favorite local spots.

Erick was a wonderful, gracious, kind host. He prepared breakfast each morning (typical european breakfast of toast, cheeses, curred meat, yogurt, juice, excellent coffee!!!). you are able to enjoy your breakfast (or wine/dinner if it evening time) on his terrace or at the table. He speaks wonderful english and will help direct you to the best places/things to see/do. He provided us with a map and some tips, that's really all you need to get around Brussels (it's quite a small city). I stayed in the Baladaquin room, a few more euros and slightly larger. It has more than enough space for 2 peole. The other room was of adequate size too, would be no trouble for 2 people plus luggage.

Erick does have 2 cats, which he adores :) I am allergic to cats, but had no problems at all because he does not allow them in the guest rooms.... and his place is impecably clean and well maintained all around. You will NOT find a better place to stay in Brussels!!!!

Thanks Erik for providing me a 'home from home'. The B&B is in a really handy position for all of Brussels.

Catch Metro line 2 or 6 from Gare Du Midi going to Simonis (Elisabeth) and get off at 'Botanique' Follow the exit signs for Galilée & then Royale, up the last escalator, straight on10m to the end of the road, turn left into Galilée Avenue walk 100m or so past a big building that is a bank office block until you get to the apartment block just across a small road on your left. It's pictured below. Ring the door phone, the numbers are on the name tags, go in when Erik answers, the big lift is on the right, up to the fourth floor and the apartment is to your left.

You can see the cathedral from the apartment, there is a shopping mall just down the hill ( or 1 metro stop, 'Rogier', if you're lazy ), a Carrefour Express 200 yards away and the metro will take you to any part of Brussels in about 30 mins max.

Add to that a good host that will look after you as much or as little as you want, a clean safe place to stay, what more can you want? Will I go back? If I'm ever in Brussels again, most certainly!
