We stayed at the apartment for 3 nights in August 2013.
We arrived very late (02:00 AM), and it was still not a problem.
Location - As we arrived late, we took a taxi from the Airport, but on the way back we walked approx. 10 mins to the metro station. The apartment is located on a small hill, with heavy luggage it can be tiring pulling it on the cobble stones.
It is near the end station of tram line 1 (to the coast), and the famous bridge.
Room - our apartment was on the 1st floor. It was well furnitured with a very good taste and hightech solutions. Kitchen was also well equipped. We had a small problem with the microwave oven, but it was soon fixed. We had a nice street view, although the cobble stones can be noisy by the speed the locals drive and you have the windows open. For us it was not disturbing because we love to feel the heartbeat of the city and be part of it.
Tips: There is a nice little park with astonishing view on the river in 3 mins walk (on the corner Passeio des Virtudes), and a very good small bar at 31 Ruia das Taipas (2 blocks apart), not to mention the bakery on Ruia das Taipas.
As the Apartment is in the old centre you can hardly find any big supermarket where you can buy everything at once. You will only find very small, family owned shops: grocery, bakery, butcher, etc.
To summarize: I would definitely suggest the apartment to everyone!
