Located in the heart of the world heritage area, just up from the Bolsa, a little down from Sao Bento railway and metro station. The area is still quite run down, as indeed is much of central Oporto.

Reception was friendly and efficient. There is a bar and a lounge. Half an hour´s free internet use on a guest computer at reception, reasonable rates for extended use in the business centre. a stray bar-bill erroneously posted to my account was removed without argument.

I had a 4th floor room with a view over the rather rickety roofs of old Oporto and their noisy seagulls. I had single use of a triple room. The third bed was in an alcove by the entrance door. The main part of the room was fair-sized. clean. adequate lighting, storage space. Room safe (though mine had been left locked by a previous guest and had not been opened by the hotel), so-so room heating. Poorly tuned Television with ITV. No fridge/mini-bar. Clean.

Bathroom well lit, sachets of shower gel, narrow but effective shower/ bath. Non-working heater. Clean

Breakfast was a reasonable cold buffet in a pleasant room. Squeeze your own orange juice. Weak coffee. Cereals (muesli until it ran out), bread, processed cheese, some pastries.

Possibly the best hotel in town regarding service, position and value for money? We had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view over the city and the river. Everything was clean and lovely. Breakfast was excellent with fresh Portuguese croissants and lots more. We had just two small complaints, the folding bed for our 8 yr old boy was uncomfortable...he reports that it sagged! On the last night, we moved rooms and then he had a good bed. Then the seagulls!! Room 602 has a wonderful view, but also a ledge just outside the window which a seagull couple stayed on all night long and screeched. We could not sleep! Perhaps they can do something about that! But when we complained after two nights, we were moved without cost to a room on the 2nd floor and slept well. What excellent and friendly service. So, despite the seagulls we would certainly return.

Very nice hotel & extremely nice staff. Rooms exceptional for a 3 star, very comfy beds & spotlessly clean. Breakfast good albeit limited. Location not too far from the river & quite accessible. Parking average cost in an underground location just down the street.
