This hotel is beautiful in the public areas, the staff were trying to do all they could.

This hotel was the worst stay I have ever had and despite requests to the staff it didn’t improve. The management of the hotel is very weak. The rooms were basic, the beds were uncomfortable. The rooms we booked were not the rooms we got. The air con didn’t work, the night club outside one of the rooms played until 04.30. The rooms we were directed to hadn’t been made up. One room had a constant stream of of light from the landing. Not enough cups for the number of people in the room. The flooring had cracks in it. The plugs were behind fixed furniture. I could go on.

In the morning whilst in reception we watched a steady stream of people complain about the noise at the front of the hotel to be moved to the rear.

The breakfast was very limited and basic, the tables were not cleared and the only member of staff had more to do than he could cope with.

A note for those with young children, the hotel has a central staircase with a very low bannister. Please be careful.

A friend who stayed here previously stated the management had changed and the hotel had changed, not for the better. If you go ask for rooms at the rear and go out for breakfast. I am sure the management will reply that they tried to help us. They didn’t!

On arrival the hotel looks full of character, however do not be fooled! It is very tired and needs a refit.
Our bathroom was filthy, we had to clean the loo before we could use it and the shower cubicle was just disgusting, see photo. I complained but NOTHING was done to rectify this.
They put a kettle in the room but no coffee or milk is available, even after asking at reception that said they don't have any.
The breakfast was VERY basic and only one person on duty to deal with all the guests.
Our room was very small and at the front of the hotel..... VERY VERY noisy at night, and I mean all through the night.
Friends we were there with had similar problems, including lack of towels and toilet rolls!
If you're looking for an enjoyable break in Porto..... choose another hotel!

Had a really lovely weekend in Porto this hotel is a great location to get out and about
lovely old building 1840 I think some great décor room was small not sure what other rooms are like but we would stay here again and ask if they had bigger rooms bonus for us tea and coffee in room not all hotels in Europe have this breakfast continental but enough we eat and good lovely places to see shops, down by the river and six bridge across it also has boats trips and bus tours we recommend these also cable car ride must do when we go back, live music free concert in city centre the weekend we were there, we would recommend this hotel and this lovely city to everyone to visit

Room Tip: Ask for a bigger room 1st or 2nd floor I think

We stayed at this "hotel" on a recent family trip to Porto. The only pro is location. The facilities, rooms, and service were horrible. The shower stall was barely larger than a gym locker. Rooms were noisy with drunk university kids until well into the morning and then trucks thereafter. If you are traveling or sharing a room with someone make sure you have a plan in place for coming and going because you only have 1 key for the room to share. I won't stay in this place again and would not recommend it. The rooms and hotel are way past due to be updated. Appreciating the history of the building, keep common areas (lobby, dining room, etc) preserved but the rooms themselves can definitely be upgraded. Please eliminate the toilet sets hung on the wall!

This is an old hotel with all the charm of an old building. It is located on a quiet street near most of the sights. This antique dealer loved the Art Nouveau and Victorian furniture! The staff was super friendly and spoke good English.

Our room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was newer.
