This hotel has all the basic fixtures found and expected in any Ibis Hotel. It has a very central location and is quite inexpensive. Having said that, my basic complaint is that although it is a non-smoking hotel we were greeted by staff that had left their posts to smoke at the hotel entrance. The lobby was inconveniently filled with smoke odor. At first we were apprehensive that the room smelled the same. Fortunately it did not. Their garage demands above average driving skills to get in and out. Many scratches on the walls and on parked cars attested to this fact.

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who efficiently checked us in and told us about the parking facilities. Their own parking was full but we had the option of using an underground parking nearby at a discount making it the same price as their own parking.
The room was spartan but clean. What you can expect from a chain budget hotel. The sheets were crisp and there was a small tv as well.
The hotel is walking distance to the center of Braga and many restaurants. But it is a bit away from the hustle and bustle which made it a quiet night.
Breakfast (to be paid separately) was good with many choices and incredible bread.

A good budget friendly option in Braga!

Sometimes I don't think there is any necessity to review Ibis hotels as they all maintain a consistent and reliable standard; once you have stayed in a few you know, more or less, what you are getting, bar for a few national and local variations. The Ibis in the centre of Braga, Portugal, is to be recommended, about 15 minutes walk from the railway station, close to the bus station and bang in the middle of everything. We stayed in a very spacious room overlooking the street, with wall to wall sliding windows giving out on to a double balcony – it was originally not built as an Ibis, hence this bonus. There was air conditioning, if you felt the need for it, but we never expected a kettle or a fridge – rarely seen in Ibis' and of course there were none. No idea what breakfast was like as we never took it but for food, no requirement to look far for a snack bar or restaurant there are numerous nearby, likewise there is a supermarket just around the corner.

Good rates, very comfy bed , just what a traveller needs.

Room tip: Top floors with balcony

I'm a fan of Ibis hotels, they offer nothing more and nothing less than a pragmatic approach to holiday accommodation: central, clean, quiet, with comfy beds. No more, no less. You don't come to Ibis for romance, or anything beyond perfunctory service, and that's exactly what you get.

This Ibis in Braga is the one close to the bus station, and 3 minutes walk from the old town. My third floor room was surprisingly large and came with a good size desk, a pointless built in sofa, and a decent size bathroom. Sound proofing, one of the standards across Ibis, was quite good, which is important when you stay in an old city like Braga facing the street. Skip breakfast, there's hundreds of cafes cheaper and better within a five minute radius (an excellent one over the road in fact).

And that's it: you're centrally situated, so go and enjoy the laid back charms of Braga.

Room tip: Some third floor rooms have balconies.

We were in Braga for 6 days, and the location, accommodations and service at Ibis Braga Centro made our stay special. Service was very attentive and helpful, with special distinction for Natalia, at the front desk.
