Great home cooked food. Don't be turned off by the owner's sister's attitude. She can be cold when serving her home cooking, but the chicken rice soup was to die for. So are the desserts! Antonio was an excellent host. He's a natural in hospitality industry.

Dinner with Antonio's mother, Antonieta was a family affair. She will reach her milestone of 90 years of age next year; again I was welcomed to the table with Antonio, restaurant manager, sister Lina, Assistant chef, Maria and granny Antonieta across from me, within the kitchen confines of the family's restaurant. There we sat to an open pot where you would find your rice and galo - whole rooster - precut, organic in a rice, legume mix, a type of stew, granny style, washed down with a bottle of red off the Douro Valley followed by home made ice cream tart and a simple baked apple to seal dinner to my hearts content as dessert and hear stories of Antonieta's humble beginnings as a pioneer in serving great food.

The food is from another time. I was told that they start cooking in a wood oven with 5 hours in advance. I can confirm. Everything was very good. For desert I ate a "Rabanada" which is a traditional Christmas cake and it was so delicious that it's difficult to explain. Just try!
