Madeira wan not on our bucket list, we went to celebrate my Dads 80th Birthday, we was pleasantly surprised at what a beautiful Island Madeira is and how welcoming the people are, as for the hotel we was pleasantly pleased with how good it is in many ways, a lovely location, a lovely room side facing Sea View which was brilliant, very clean, all the staff was very friendly, helpful, happy, the food we felt had plenty of choice and of very good quality, with 4 separate restaurants which you can book on arrival. A very chilled out resort no rush for sun beds, felt hotel offered very good value for money, people complaining must be looking for Rolls Royce at a Mondeo prices. Thank you Enotel for a lovely holiday and making my Dads Birthday special, make Madeira a must do, truly worth a visit.

By no stretch of the imagination is this hotel 5 star. Having been to Reid's Palace, which is 5 star, there's no comparison. Firstly the good points, the hotel is spacious, clean, rooms are of a good size, and are fitted with a bath and shower. There are 3 bars, as well as local drinks, some branded spirits are within the all inclusive package, these include Smirnoff, bacardi, Famous Grouse, Johnny Walker Red Label, J&B, Grants, Ricard. The Perola bar had one super barman, Roberto, who seemed to know what everyone was drinking, and was able to keep the queues to a minimum. The Sportebar was at the pool level, and for the most part the staff were good. The restaurant was a different kettle of fish, only 2 people stood out, Joao Paulo who seemed to cover almost every job within the restaurant, and did it well, and Aika Ito who greeted even the most awkward of diners with the biggest smile ever. The majority of the younger staff members were out of their depth, and were constantly being reprimanded for what seemed like a lack of interest in the job. The food on the other hand was a bit of a hit and miss. Sometimes good, sometimes not so, On 4 occasions I had to return food to the Show Cooking station as it was grossly undercooked, quite acceptable with lamb and beef, but not with the pork and chicken. Although I can't say for sure, but this could have been the cause of the upset stomachs which we both had for our last four days, or it could have been due to a practice witnessed in the bars whereby the bar staff were lifting glasses, with their fingers on the inside of the glass. Incidentally, this was reported to our tour operator, and our contact details taken, but heard nothing further about it. Good hotel that has to address some issues.

Room Tip: The room had a side sea view, but realistically, looked on to the hotel across the road. The rooms with a pool view woul

We have had this hotel recommended to us and on arrival we found everything as described nice room and view/ food good / drinks mostly branded / atmosphere really relaxed as you would expect from a spa hotel that seems to encourage the older age groups although there was a few families, but overall we could not be happier. Entertainment was a bit naff but ok.
Then all of a sudden this week its changed so much - the place is full of screaming kids, there is music blasting out all day at the pool and we have some kind of entertainment team who look like their routines have been put together in about 15 mins.
The food has dropped in standard and the staff are now so busy there pleasant customer service has all but gone.
There are children climbing on the pool railings obviously not supervised by parents and as no life guards its going to end in a bad way.
Last week was deffo 5 star this week i am struggling to give 3 - so disappointing
Not the type of holiday we expected and sadly would put us off coming back now

the only negative thing i can say about this hotel is the WIFI to slow. everything in the hotel was brilliant. from the food to the staff, the rooms were spacious, the cleaners did a great job. plenty of room round the pool with lots of umbrellas and plenty of places to sit in the shade, the indoor pool was a big hit with the kids as the outdoor pool was chilly. the pool bar staff were friendly and the pool bar restaurant had plenty of choice to eat from 10.30 until 5.30 you could still get food in the sports bar. the restaurant buffet style where breakfast lunch and dinner was served was well run, the food was tasty and a good choice, the waiting staff were friendly, nothing was to much trouble for them, drinks were served at the table and were replenished frequently. there is a choice of themed nights (bookable) japanese maderain and italian, we went to the italian again staff so professional and food delicious. there was evening entertainment can't comment on that as we didn't sit in that area of the hotel. the hotel has access to the promenade great for a evening stroll or sit and watch the world go by. we had a great holiday and will certainly be back

Room Tip: ask for a room which has recently been refurbished
