Description: Ca te Espero is a typical restaurant with a long tradition. It has been known for its quality and for its cosy and homy atmosphere, since 1976.Our food quality is the result of the use of fresh ingredients in the preparation and cooking of our traditional recipes. We point out Bife de Atum com Milho Frito (Tuna fish Steak with fried Maize), Filete de Espada com Banana (Fried Scabbard fish with Banana), Pepper Steak and Pork Fillet Ca te Espero Style. We will be very pleased to welcome you!

We had been here 2 years before and enjoyed it. The place has a lovely terrace although the road noise can be heard. We were warmly welcomed. The menu is simple but well executed. The Dorada grilled was brilliant with a lovely salad. My wife had a large piece of steak which she enjoyed. A good wine list with reasonable prices. A great chocolate mouse. Worthy of a visit.

Extremely pleasant greeting before you enter, whether you do or not. Service very polite and quick. Meal very tasty and filling. Other services like toilets, clean and very modern. Someone has paid a lot of attention to detail and it pays dividends. Will definitely be going back before end of holiday.

Thank Andy P

The beef was some of the best we've had in Funchal, the fish was some of the worst. Lose the ridiculously huge espetada skewers, lose the over-boiled vegetables and this place would be okay.

Thank you for your comment.
Sory for the huge espetada, this portion is traditional in Madeira. Next time just mention that you like a smaller one and we will take care of your wishes. The customer has always the last word.

Ran by Rui and Diogo , situated half way down the hill from the Savoy Gardens to the Hole in One ,the Ca Te Espero is a lovely friendly local bar/restaurant with a upstairs garden terrace and no gimmicks , mainly used by friendly locals but welcomes new comers and tourists like long lost friends .
Well priced local snacks and meals are served plus the excellent Super Bok stout , if you dislike your beer freezing cold ask for a cold bottle and one natural (warm), the flavour is far better, they also make a very good ponca. The number 4 bus stops at door if you are on the way back from town . Its just one of those places where you feel genuinely welcome unrushed and at home .
