Four of us (two couples) booked for 7 nights stay. This fourth floor apartment is adjacent to Praca da Figueira in the Rossio district in Lisbon. It has a narrow balcony that is opened onto from the lounge and both bedrooms that is a great place to gaze down upon Rossio, an en-suite in one bedroom, a well equipped bathroom, kitchen and lounge. All good so far.
The letting agent Catarina met us as we arrived off the very handy Metro nearby, unfortunately we were obliged to hump our luggage up 94 stairs to the fourth floor as the lift was inoperative. Catarina promised it would be fixed soonest, and sure-enough some engineers arrived on Monday to effect repairs. They actually left the lift in a partially dismantled state between floors one and two...and there it stayed all week with no further attention. Catarina arrived on Friday to return the 200 Euros deposit, and told us we should have rang her. Fixing lifts and advising of maintenance issues isn't our business - enjoying our holiday is. Catarina plainly was not on top of this issue despite her promises. It did of course mean our legs got a good workout all week.
The air-con worked fine but was quite noisy, so we opened windows instead. The noise in the streets and squares outside was quite raucous at times through the night; late-night revellers and maintenance vehicles kept us awake until we grew accustomed.
This all may sound like a damning inditement, but if you can look past the issues mentioned then this place is ideally located, has a great feel and has space a-plenty for two couples or a family - just don't expect the lift to work.
We would recommend others to stay here, but we would be sure to mention the downs as well as the ups.
