The building and most of the staff are great. But it is a bit off the beaten path if you are a tourist. Also if you have dietary restrictions be careful. My wife is celiac and they served her food with gluten. She will be in pain for a few weeks now. I tried to speak Portuguese when I ordered but it got lost in translation I guess.

Dear Mr. Ken,
First of all thank you for choosing Olaias Park Hotel during your visit to Lisbon.
Overall we are delighted to know that you enjoyed the hotel facilities and the staff.
We are very careful about the health and food restrictions of our guests. Probably we did not understand your explanations and we are really sorry.
We are worried and we hope that your wife will be fine as soon as possible.
I will transmit your comment for our general manager and we will take the correct measures, for problems like this never happen again.
You can contact us any time and once again we are sorry.
We look forward for your next visit to Lisbon.
Best regards,

Arrived here at 11.10pm after a flight cancellation. It's a basic hotel in a run down part of town, not too far from the airport. Arriving as a large group we nevertheless queued politely at Reception to await our turn. But the welcome was quite poor and the lady at Reception (Paula?) spoke to me in a rude tone. Having been told by BA that we would get some food on arrival as we were all starving after hours at the airport with no food at all, we naturally expressed our disappointment at being told by her that we could not have any nor could we have room service. She was adamant they would not provide any food. However, when my husband went into the bar they said that food was served until 11.30pm and room service was available until the same time. Why didn't Reception know this? We were happy to finally get our meals in the bar and it was filling and tasty bar style food (burger and chips). On retiring to bed at about midnight, we were horrified by our room. Electrics were hanging out of the wall, the beds were bare and not made up, with some folded sheets dumped at the end of the bed, and there were no curtains! We retreated back to Reception to be informed by Luis that Paula never should have given us that room as the whole of that floor (Floor 4) is up for renovation and is not habitable. Why didn't she know this? I find it hard to believe that Reception staff don't know about a whole floor out of commission. Luis certainly knew and gave us a different room which again was basic but at least it was in livable condition.
Although we only spent one night here we weren't overly impressed. The poor welcome to tired and hungry travellers made a bad first impression that was hard to get over. Breakfast buffet was also extremely average, plenty of choice but low on quality. On the plus side, the hotel was immaculately clean, the bar staff were really nice and it was close to the airport. Thumbs up for Luis at Reception as well.

Dear Guest,
First of all we understand your review and we are sorry for you not feeling well received. All the reception team loves to welcome our guests, and this is not a normal situation, therefore we will take procedures and measures for problems like this never happen again.
We are delighted to know that at the end you appreciated our tasty food in the bar.
This hotel is composed for 300 rooms and only 200 is rennovated. Actually you had one of the old rooms and we are sorry again for did not meet your expectations. However thank you for your pleasant comment about the cleanliness and the bar staff.
Thank you and hope you will give us a chance to welcome you back to the Olaias Park Hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights and were in a triple room on floor 12 (recently renovated as per our request). The hotel was yards from the metro stop which was very handy as we arrived late at night. We were warmly greeted and given good information regarding the hotel. Our room was adequate in size and the bed sheets were perfectly clean and laundered. Towels were changed every day and room was spotlessly clean. Aircon and fridge were both in good working order and the water temp and pressure were spot on. was included in the price and there was a large variety of cooked and continental food freshly provided. Breakfast can be busy but just choose the time according to when tour groups are leaving. The only downside were some rude guests who felt obliged to push into a gap In a lift not big enough for an ant, but all in all in all a good hotel for a weekend break for the price we paid.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room

Just glad that we didn't pay hard cash for our one night stay at this hotel. We were dumped there at nearly midnight by British Airways after our aircraft developed a fault and the flight was cancelled. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The hotel exterior and lobby area looks dated and tired and our room wasn't any better with its cramped dimensions, dim lighting, drab decor and twin narrow beds with hard, bouncy mattresses and lumpy pillows. Frankly, I cannot understand how this hotel justifies a 4 star rating. It is a cheap hotel in an ugly part of the city and I'm not sure the prices reflect this.

Room Tip: Best advice is look for somewhere else nearer the city centre.

Dear Mr. Ian,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for your review.
Regarding your comment, we are really sorry for did not meet your expectations.
A cancelled flight never is pleasant and to receive guest at midnight without a previously reservation sometimes could be difficult, because the best rooms is occupaied and the other rooms is prepared just for the emergency cases.
We have 300 rooms and only 200 are remodelated. We will start the building works in december.
We look forward for your next visit to Lisbon.

Pleasant hotel on outside edge of Lisbon but has the very easy to use and inexpensive metro just outside the door to get you to the restaurant areas and direct line from the airport. There is a supermarket hidden just a few doors away, but you would not know it was there. Next door is a delightful cafe/bar with wonderful cakes for the sweet toothed.
The hotel has a bar on the ground floor, small but friendly with good beer and good prices and will serve food. Some of the rooms are currently being renovated (and are a little shabby as we found out when our flight was cancelled and the airline sent us back there!) but we were upgraded to the top floor with a wonderful view. No minibar or tea making facilities, but rooom service available. Breakfast good, larger than average ‘continental’ style in the first floor restaurant but would not recommend evening meals as the buffet food was not kept hot. Staff friendly and informative.

Room Tip: Higher the better, 4 good fast lifts
