My husband and I started off a five-week trek through Europe at this hotel, and we couldn't have been happier with it. The location is superb, right near Rossio Square and the train station and walking distance to many of the sights (Bairro Alto, Castelo Sao Jorge, the Se - all of these require a walk up a hill but it's a great way to burn off a pastel de nada!). Hotel staff were very friendly and willing to help with restaurant recommendations, tourist information, etc. Bed was comfy.

Room was a little small, but it was clean and had ample power outlets for all of our electronics. Free WiFi was consistent and the included breakfast was delicious. Turndown service in the evening with mini pastel de nada treats was great!

All in all we had a lovely stay and I wouldn't hesitate to book at the Altis Avenida again if we return to Lisbon. One thing to note: we consistently had cab drivers who thought we were going to a different Altis hotel, as this one apparently opened recently. It will be helpful to you to have a street address to show the cab driver, or to tell him 'Rossio Train Station' as your destination - the hotel is directly across the street from the station.

I stayed four nights with my wife in this nice hotel and our experience was very nice. The location is the best, very close to the important things and the service and quality of the hotel is excellent. The breakfast was a real pleasure with real quality food and the staff very positive. Good choice for us and very good stay. I'll come back.

My boyfriend and I have just returned yesterday from a 5 night stay at the hotel. I cannot say enough good things about it, the location is perfect: right in the centre of Lisbon with lots and lots of places to eat nearby as well as shops. The two restaurants that I would recomend for a special meal are: adlibo which is part of the Sofitel hotel, if you have your back to the Atlis Avenida hotel, turn turn and walk on the left hand side of the square so that the shops are on your left. The food at the restaurant was amazing. However, even better than this was Sacremento restaurant. This was also just a 5 minute walk from the hotel but the opposite direction to the adlibo hotel. The food and service here was the best we have ever had in any European city.

The hotel staff are very helpful. We got the red Lisbon sightseeing bus, this has both a red and blue line and the tickets are 18 Euros each and valid for two days. We used these tickets to get to the Oceanarium, zoo and Belem. However the bus is quite long so if you're going to do this, plan out your day so going on the bus does not take you out of your way or take too long. To get to the zoo we used the tube as it was quicker: the machines at tube stations ahve english translation which is v helpful as when we were in Paris we struggled!

Can't say enough good things about the hotel, it was perfect. Even the bed was incredibly comfy! We stayed in room 308 which looked out onto the central square - perfect view but not a sound at night, ideal

6 days stay in July 2012 for vacation.
Excellent convenient central location, close to everything by foot, friendly staff, funky room design and features. New or near new everything.
GREAT breakfast area on the upper floor with huge outdoor terrace, glass walls and fantastic views of the city. What a Pleasure to have a buffet breakfast (sufficient breakfast) or evening drinks there.
Good mattress, pillows, personal robes.

Sound insulation in our room 211 was not particularly good (from adjacent room one can hear showers, etc).
hotel does not have pool . They offer complimentary access to the pool at different hotel.
We did not go there.
Airport shuttle runs may be 4 - 5 times a day and, as I was told, takes about 2 hours due to various pick up points in the city. Taxi to the airport takes 20 minutes and public airbus nearby around 35-40 minutes.
I suggest to the hotel to drop this unusable service.

The location could not be better--walking distance from most of the sights; the subway and train are literally right out the front door; and the trollies, funicular, and elevator, are within a few blocks. The rooms are handsomely decorated with high ceilings and extremely effective 2ble paned windows. To illustrate this, the location is right across the street from the train station, but I didn't even realize it until I was ready to take the train to Sintra. The bed was excellent--the room quiet, sleep was uninterrupted. The breakfast was delicious and served in the 7th floor restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The views are beautiful and the service from the staff excellent. There was always fresh fruit, eggs, pastries, and coffee and many other selections of both cooked and cold meats, vegetables, and cheeses. Speaking of the staff, the manager of the hotel was everywhere. She was at the front desk, in the guest rooms, and at the breakfast buffet supervising
and making sure the guests were well taken care of. And finally, I recommend speaking with Joao at the front desk. He was an excellent concierge. I found his restaurant recommendations to be reliable and tailored to my requirements. He was also genuinely concerned that I had a wonderful time in his city--very professional.

Room Tip: 2nd and 6th floor rooms have doors to a small standing balcony rather than windows.
