This restaurant hit two birds with one stone. We wanted an authentic Portuguese dinner and a Fado performance. The reviews on this restaurant were good and we were very pleased that we chose it. Our waiter was very good at explaining the Portuguese menu and made several recommendations. We had the Bacalhau “Madragoa Café” and the "Portuguese Experience", a dish with different sausages. We wanted to share the dishes so the waiter split each dish onto two plates. The highlight was the Bacalhau. The way it was prepared mixed with a crunchy topping was fantastic...and no bones! The ladies in the kitchen, which we could see, were cheerful and always busy. Our table was right beside the Fado performers, who were great. When the music started, all food service stopped, so you could really appreciate the music. There was no rushing us through our meal (as is the case in any restaurant) so we lingered for 3 hours and listened to 3 sets of music. The owners were very gracious at the end of our dinner, called us a cab for our return to our hotel. Definitely a great spot for local food! Go on a Thursday, but reserve in advance.
