As it was my first time in Lisbon, and I messaged them pretty late on the first night I arrived, I was grateful to them for fitting me in for a manicure the following morning; and for responding so quickly to my email. The manicurist did an OK job, not great, but ok. I got my eyebrows threaded and tinted as well. HIGHLY recommend the threading, tinting is a bold choice and takes some time getting used to. I took a shower right after which I probably shouldn’t have done because the tint came off in some areas, but I actually liked that because the tinted shape was a little too bold for my liking.

I do not recommend this to anyone. I was looking to spoil myself on holiday, but ended up with the worse manicure i've ever received. The OPI manicure is already cracking up and falling of after one week. The person who gave me my manicure was clearly untrained, took over an hour and ended up cutting to much of my cuticles making me bleed.

The only good thing about this place was the coffee.

The manicure was a nice girl, but she needs to improve her skills as manicure and pedicure. The equipments are not up-to-date and the nail polish takes forever to dry and therefore you end up spoiling the polished nail. The owner was present and was not a nice person. When I asked her to turn on the air conditioning she did not like it. She thought I did not understand the language and started to make nasty comments. When I responded to her in Spanish, she was taken by surprise and started to make up to fix the situation, but the damage was already done. It was not worth the price much less the time spent.

Catarina S, Owner at The Manipedi Nail Spa, responded to this reviewResponded 24 August 2018

Hello fyanagawa,

This is Catarina, the owner of The Manipedi - Nail Spa.

After reviewing your text with the team, we would like to double check if you were maybe referring to a different place?

Our equipment is of the highest quality (brand only OPI and CND LED lamps, Italian pedicure spa chairs by Bross & Gamma, lamps that have been designed for the detail of nail work, etc.), also we only use the best nail polishes in the world (OPI and CND).

I particularly don't recall having been called "not a nice person" (other than by my youngest, who is 5 years old, when I don’t let her stay up late or serve her some type of other injustice, in her view) and I have to say we most often speak english to each other at the salon, as one of our colleagues is currently in the process of learning portuguese and many of our customers are either learning the language or not able to speak portuguese. Spanish is not the language of our country.

Our air conditioning is also almost always on especially as it has been a particularly hot summer in Portugal and the team wouldn't be able to work eight hours a day with the air turned off.

In the jaw dropping event that you really meant our space in Santos, in Lisbon, we would very much appreciate it if you could identify yourself and the date that you have visited us in Lisbon (as I mentioned, our salon is in Portugal), so that we can clarify what indeed may have happened and invite you to come review both our nail polishes and our equipment.

If indeed this experience happened elsewhere, we would really appreciate it if you could remove this review from our listing, as there are 7 women (and a very large community of stakeholders) who work extremely hard every day to continuously deserve the loyalty and satisfaction of all our customers, and to whom these reviews really matter.

Be it where it may have been, we are sorry that you had a poor experience and I wish you the best.

Obrigada,

Catarina Soares da Cunha

I have the worst toenails and I get a pedicure every 3 weeks. I was really concerned about going to just any place while I was overseas. I picked this place and invited a friend for her birthday. This place is a gem! Like I said, my toes are a nightmare and the young lady who did my pedicure was sensational. My friend absolutely loved her pedicure too. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Beautiful space, great service and nice selection of colors. I had the spa package which was a great way to relax after sightseeing all day.
